If the shock mounting bolts are rusty, I would spray the down with some penetrating fluid like WD40 for a few hours. Also don't forget to support the atv when you are taking the shock out. -

I know that PIAA makes some replacement bulbs. You can look here: PIAA Allot of those Kawasaki's are an H6M bulb, not sure what's in that Brute Force though.

I'm sorry to hear about your father's cancer... I like to ride wooded areas also, mountain trails, rocky terrain. I mostly trails that are under power lines for miles. Most of my riding has been wooded, New England terrain. I like to ride because I find it relaxing. I also like to ride in the snow! -
Have you changed the battery? Sounds like the battery is not holding a charge, which is very possible. It's only a year old, most likely it's a bad battery.
