A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I were running the logging roads on our land up North and decided one more run for the day before washing the rides down and heading home. The day was sunny, warm with temps in the mid 70s. I'm in the lead and my wife was following on her quad a bit of a distance behind me. The grass had grown tall over the few weeks since we were out there. We're riding a leisurely 10mph at most, enjoying the sunshine that filtered through the trees and seeing the deer and other wildlife. Low and behold, there before me where none existed before was a big puddle. I semi stood up to take it as it was too late to move around it. Dipped down, the quad stopped and I didn't. I did a lovely forward flip off the front of the quad, landed on the other side of the puddle but still in the mud, on my back. I slowly took stock ... hands moved, head moves, legs and feet move... check, all good there. For a moment i lay there wondering why the grass was blue. Oh yeah, that was the sky My wife is calling to me, are you ok? Gathered my wits and told her yeah, doing ok here. Got up and looked back. There was the quad, still running, buried up to the top of the wheels in a mud hole that had not been there a few weeks ago. Winched it out, took stock of any damage. The quad had a broken windshield, which was the extent of the damage. As for me, I had mud just about everywhere, my eyes, ears and nose. Ended up with some scrapes and bruises, one looked suspiciously like a mirror Got back to the motorhome, and basically stripped down to boxers, grabbed the water hose and washed off the outter layer of mud. Took a lot of Qtips to clear out the outer ears I tell ya. So, anyone have some good stories to share? I'm all (clean) ears.

1. What kind of Quad you have? Suzuki LTZ250 2. Do you like it? Love it! She's so pretty and fun to ride! Can't wait to get a faster one though! 3. Ever flipped it? Rolled it Over.... 4. Describe your worst crash on it: Rolled my bike over on top of myself- threw me to the ground- broke my collar bone. 5. Worst crash ever: Above= Broken collar bone. 6. Favorite Track: Haven't got to ride very many tracks yet. We like to play at Capital Forest- Rock Candy... a little place we call "The Track" has a few small jumps. 7. Least Favorite Track: Haven't found one yet. 8. Favorite Jump: Just learning to jump- So I like the little jumps at "The Track" at capital Forest. 9. Least Fav. Jump: I hit a jump at Beverly that I didn't mean to, once, and it took my brath away that I actually landed it without hurting myself! (I look for it to do again though!) 10. Favorite person to ride with: My hubby. He knows how to challenge me and test me just to my breaking point. And I trust him not to get me hurt. 11. Worst Person to ride with: I love riding with all my friends- but our friend Brandon rides BALLS OUT - sometimes he gets me into places I wasn't ready to be in yet! Love him anyway! 12. 3000 PLUS PEOPLE ATTENDED AND 300 HAND-WRITTEN SCOPING LETTERS WERE COLLECTED THE TWENTYNINE PALMS, CA MARINE CORPS BASE IS PROPOSING AN EXPANSION THAT COULD INCLUDE THE JOHNSON VALLEY OHV AREA. JOHNSON VALLEY IS THE LARGEST OPEN AREA IN THE COUNTRY, LOCATED JUST EAST OF LOS ANGELES, AND IS A MECCA FOR OFF-ROAD RECREATION INCLUDING MANY EVENTS LIKE OFF-ROAD RACING AND COMPETITIVE ROCK CRAWLING.BAKERSFIELD, CA (December 16, 2008) BRP/Billet Racing Products, Inc and American Motorcyclist Association, District 37 (AMA D37) teamed up this weekend to put on the “Save Johnson Valley Fun Ride.” The ride was held at Cougar Buttes in the Johnson Valley OHV Area. An estimated 3000 plus people attended the event. The fantastic turnout was a testament to how important this area is to the entire OHV community. The main goal of the event was to raise awareness about this issue. It is very important that the OHV community, as a whole, be involved in the public process the Marines are going through in their expansion efforts. The public has three opportunities to shape the outcome of this expansion effort. We can make specific scoping comments, respond to the Draft Environmental Impact Report (DEIS) and lastly respond to the Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS). Both the Off-Road Business Association (ORBA) and AMA D37 will have template letters available for their members and the general public to use on their websites throughout this process. “Giving the OHV community the education and tools to be a part of this process is the goal of both ORBA and AMA D37. We believe getting end users involved is very important in this fight” stated Jerry Grabow, AMA D37 Off-Road President. AMA D37 has also launched a new website, www.savejv.com, and all of the template letters will be available on that website as well. We encourage everyone that wants to see continued public recreation in Johnson Valley to visit the website and send their own personalized letter. Besides raising awareness about the issue, another goal of this event was to unite the entire off-road community while at the same time providing a weekend of fun for the entire family. There were things to do for every type and skill level of off-roader. We had a kid’s track, several motorcycle loops, an ATV/UTV loop and two 4 wheel drive runs. Other attractions offered at the event were a rock crawling demo and trials riding demo. Jim Rios, President of BRP stated “I am very proud of how this event brought together all aspects of the off-road community. Together we are a much stronger force.” # # # ORBA is a national trade association composed of off-road related businesses united to promote common goals that support the prosperity and growth of the off-road industry. These are a couple of pics my friend got of me shooting some roost in Syracuse, Ks. My quad was running like a raped ape this weekend. I LOVE IT!!:aargh: I was too lazy to undo 8 bolts and tighten them back up so I didn't run paddles. This is me coming off the top of a hill, smiling for the camera, of course! This me having a little fun on the face of the hill. This is me doing my best to bury the cameraman. Without paddles I just couldn't get what I needed to do so. Not bad for a machine without paddles, what do you think?

So today started out great. Blue skys, warm air. We loaded the toys up to go play in the mountains. We arrive, everything is unloaded and we ride about 3/4 mile down a dirt road to get to the actual trail. I'm leading with Rhino not far behind when some 15 year old DUMB AS* on a YZ250 comes flying around a blind corner at about 40-50mph coming towards us. Luckily I slowed down for the corner and stayed to the inside when he went flying out of control around the outside. He smacked right into the Rhino peeling the rim off the tire, sliced the tire in 2 spots, ripped the corner of the hood. Ball joint is tweeked, that is what is obvious. I'm taking it to the shop tomorrow. Oh yeah about the schmuck. He flew over the bars and schattered his collar bone on the roll cage. His dad is paying for it. I'll post pics of the damage later.
