  1. It could be the ecu, I’ve heard of that part having problems. Have you looked at the basic stuff first ? Fuses etc ? Also if you know anyone that rides the same bike you can swap them and see if that works before you go out and spend the money.
  2. Standard turn nothing’s reversed. If the axle is turning put a pipe wrench on the axle to hold it.
  3. Hahaha that’s great. It happens, I’ve done stupider sh**. I You certainly can. Just have extra cotter pins handy. And might as well put some fresh grease on the splines while your there.
  4. That nut (castle nut)should remain and the drum should come off. Its very common for the drums to get seized on like that. Yiu can tap it with a rubber mallet all around. It will loosen up.
  5. Go slow! Easy snap of you go to hard.
  6. That’s ok. Loosen the right side diff cover bolts and drain it that way. 6 bolts maybe ? But spray them ahead of time.
  7. Yep that’s a bearing seal and bearing. Going to need to swap it out and might as well do both sides. Or see if you can find a rear diff if it’s shot on eBay. I believe that is one continuous axle and that bearing assembly for both sides would be about $50 bucks. Have you found anting else ? Anything chewed up like gears or the yolk ? Is everything spinning for the most part ?
  8. Sounds like a bearing or seal or both went bad. Can’t see the video for some reason. Maybe post some pics.
  9. Welcome to Quadcrazy @Jay C. There should be a second relay in a black rubber boot someplace on the bike. I will look at your diagram to verify. It may be a completely different problem. In the mean time you should start a new topic about your bike and include the make and year of your bike and the problem so it can be tracked better. A lot of new members I’m noticing have been adding there bike/problem into existing topics and they get lost.
  10. If you wind up having to dropping the rear: The four bolts right in front of the differential housing come out so you don’t have to pull the yolk and drive shaft housing off at the engine. The shocks unbolt, the swing arm bolts and all that’s left are the brake and vent lines. Some times I leave the shocks bolted and take the swing arm bolts off and swing the rear out of it’s in the air. The rear hangs from the shocks.
  11. No I would pull that plug on the top left rear side of the differential housing. You will be able to see the ring and pinion gears inside with a flashlight. Spin the rear tires and see if anything is moving and pull that rubber boot back By the engine/axle housing to expose the yolk and see if they all move together. If not it may be a broken drive shaft or the gears in the rear.
  12. That’s what I was thinking as far as what broke. I have a feeling the rear may be fine. If that’s the case then it’s a score. Going to take some labor but worth it. Were you able to figure out the year ? If not find the vin# and you can search it.
  13. The rubber boots at the ends of the shafts. Loosen the clamps and pull them back. Inspect the connections and watch them rotate. And check the differential fluids for metal etc.
  14. Take the fill caps off the differentials and check the oil levels as well as if any metal chunks or shavings are inside. Start to inspect the drive shafts and universal joints. Take the inspection plates off of the drive shafts. Don’t forget to spray the bolts down ahead of time so nothing snaps. Use a good penetrating oil spray. Put the bike in gear and try to spin it and see what happens as well.
  15. Those two wires look like they were wired for an auxiliary of some sort. What is that item on the dash? Is it a cigarette lighter ? If so then there should be a positive and negative on it. Unless I’m not sure what wires your talking about.
  16. That picture is your start circuit relay inside that black rubber boot. The wires going onto it are as follows. The green wire comes from your neutral/reverse safety switch. When the bike is in neutral that wires gets grounded by a device inside the left engine cover by the shifter. The brown wire comes from your 12v positive and should show 12v+ with the ignition on. The two black wires are what completes the ignition circuit allowing the dash lights to come on as well as allow the ignition button to run the starter. So if your handy with a tester make sure the brown wire has 12+. Make sure the green wire has continuity from green to ground when the bike is in neutral. If you don’t have 12+ on the brown wire try a jumper from battery to that brown. Also the green wire should be providing the ground for the relay. Hence the continuity test. lastly you should hear or feel a click from that relay, what that does is makes contact for the two black wires going into that relay. If you have all the above power and no click then the relay is bad. You can jump the two black wires and see if the dash and start button works.
  17. Any luck ? What is that on the dash? Is that a home made ignition? The bayou should have the ignition on the right side plastic in front if the gas tank? If that’s home made then you have to look back at the wiring diagram to see what was eliminated and how it’s wired.
  18. The round aluminum type relay is the starter circuit relay. It’s a lock out relay that allows the starter circuit to close. It’s connected to the neutral safety switch. Ok try this. Put everything back the way it needs to be and jump the two black wires on that starter relay. It has a green brown and two blacks. Jump the two blacks and try and hit the start button.
  19. There is a fuse right next to the starter relay. Def a good place to look first.
  20. Lol you live and learn brother. You will never make that mistake again.
  21. Look under the seat where the battery is. You will find a round relay. NOT the starter relay. Another one with four wires going to it. One brown one green and two black. Take a piece of wire and jump the green wire to ground and turn the ignition on and see if you have dash lights and able to crank the bike. Make sure the bike is in neutral !
  22. @Arizona so what’s going on with the bike! We’ve seen quite a few posts about this the last few months and I have torn into mine to make a few repairs as well. Whatever you are having a problem with we will help you figure it out!
