I mounted my badland into the bumper of my bayou with the mounting plate onto a 1/8" piece of garden bed liner... thought for sure it would snap first time I used it but i guess bed liner is tempered and it has never bent out of shape or snapped and Ive done stuff to it that made the winch complain. Parked the bike behind a stump and pulled a shed upright with it- I know for a fact that it was pulling a LOT more than 2500 pounds. It was an oak stump and it started breaking lol... didnt do a thing to the winch or homemade mounting plate.

2004 Polaris Sportsman 500 Reversed Terminals On Battery

Wheres the fuel pump vent? I see three lines attached to the pump- one going to the gas valve, one going to the carb bowl and one attached to the top end of the carb. As for the rolling, it was like that before the axle popped out, but I will still throw it on a jack and see how free the front wheels are. Does anyone know if these polarises have diff in the front? should both wheels be spinning when I turn one side? -
what is the best brand of ATV?

update: I got the bike running today using another gas tank and gravity feeding it. It was still stuck in high so and the idle was screwed up to half throttle so it was a hectic ride... anyway, when I was riding it, I looked down and the pump was shooting gas out the hose (even with the valve off). hooked the gas line back up to the carb and ditched the makeshift supply. My mistake was to forget to turn the valve back on and I ran it dry so now I'm back where I started. Is there some way to 'prime' the pump so I can get gas to the carb to start the bike? Once the bike is running, the gas is just pumping away, but nothing comes out while I have the starter pegged. Also, the bike seems to be almost impossible to roll even in neutral. Is this normal for these bikes or might there be a brake or axle locked up? It seemed to take about half throttle to get the bike to move in high. -

I was thinking about a daytona floorjack from harbor fright -
I say they have really great value on most everything they sell for the price. I bought one of their 6.5 predator engines for a baja minibike and would buy one again- never had any problem out of it and I ran the crap out of it (including flipping the minibike upside down once lol). I think their winches and engines have awesome value. Would not recommend a socket set form there...

BadLand winches are sold at Harbor Freight. dunno if you have those retail stores down there...?

I;d go with polaris or yamaha if you want performance (will cost a little more to fix up), honda if you want it to last forever with little upkeep, canam if you plan to race or want 'crap your pants' speeds. I love the Polaris Sportsman and Yamaha Kodiak

yep. got one of those on my Kawasaki bayou 300- never let me down (used it to pull a shed upright that was falling down, and to lift the front of my atv when I replaced the front shocks). I lost the remote, but just bought a rocker switch on ebay or amizon for $12 and it works just like a WARN winch now.. I'd go with the BadLand winches any day of the week cause worse case, you can go though like 4 of them for the price of a Warn the same size. They even have free-spool (and of course in and out) so you dont spend all night just letting the winch out. It is louder than the warn winch that came with my polaris but the warn sounds like its grinding gears lol I'll just run it till it stops and then get a badland for it.

so you got any tips on what to watch out for so you dont get scammed on a bike and sink a whole bunch of $$$$ into it for little return?
-
how much did you pay for it? Looks new- was it sitting most of its life?

I tried... My jack (dad's jack) is almost shot and only lifts half way up, and the bike is on a slight incline causing the jack to tip when the wheels come off the ground. -

oh i didnt think about that.. I got an old minibike gas tank I could use. Another thing- its stuck in high. It seems like the shifter is jammed, so I was hoping that if I got the tranny turning, it would loosen up and shift out of high.. Its gonna be fun trying to feed gas in the engine with a high idle in high with a jammed front axle 🤔👍 -

thats kinda hard to do since the tank feed is about 4 inches lower than the carb -

I took the gas line off the carb and it was almost dry.. I cycled the engine a couple times and nothing changed. I replaced the fuel filter and still no gas comes out the line (had the fuel valve on the whole time) I think somethings up with the fuel pump, but the bike started before I screwed up the electrical. -

I tried starter fluid in the air filter (just a little cause I know how that can blow the head off an engine lol..... nothing- but that was with the old sp- I can try again with the new sp. -

I might not be getting any fuel in through the carb because when I took out the sp, it was completely dry. No blockage in the manifold. As far as the axle goes, I pretty sure it just popped out (but is still in the boot) because I accidentally dropped the strut on that side when I disconnected the shock. -

update: I got everything back together (had to replace the carb) and this morning went out and turned the key and bam, on pops the display and the needle on the speedometer moved up to 0mph. Dunno what changed between today and yesterday, but the display pops on every time I turn the key. now I have just two problems. It cranks but refuses to fire. I checked that the gas was on, checked spark, changed the sp, let it air out, tried again and still nothing. It was acting like it either wasnt getting fuel, or flooding out. I know it runs cause I got it started in AL right before I switched the battery terminals. (The float was busted in the carb causing it to leak so thats why I got a new one.) The back shocks had been replaced with aftermarket longer shocks lifting the back end but nothing was done to the front. I bought a front end lift kit for it and put it on. I looks much better now, but the front right axle feels like its binding up when I roll the bike. The front left side bounces up and down on the shock but the right side is rigged. I have never worked with axles before so any help on getting the axle in again would be great! just a 2in lift in the front btw -

nothing has power on the pod cluster. the headlights and taillights work, the starter cranks, I'm not sure yet if the stater works, but I got a new one sitting ready to go in. I'm planning on trying to start it monday. -

the switch appears to be good, the lights and everything works like it should when turned on, and I took the switch itself apart and nothing looked abnormal...no black tips or discolored anything. -
