Sounds like your starter is good. I would check power from the solenoid back to the battery. Jumping the solenoid should cause the starter to spin, but its not..correct? So my thought would be that you have no power at the post not connect to the starter wire for some reason.

The OEM is higher priced so I ordered an aftermarket with bolts for $28. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Starter-Clutch-One-Way-Bearing-Sprag-For-Yamaha-5Lp-15590-00-00/291688226787?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 I have two gaskets coming so I'm going to put the aftermarket in with the existing gear and see how it goes. If it doesn't last, I'll open it up again and replace with OE and a new gear or get an aftermarket kit. I also ordered an OE oil pump chain because I think mine is stretched: https://www.ebay.com/itm/YAMAHA-CHAIN-2002-2008-YFM660-GRIZZLY-2004-2008-YXR660-RHINO-94581-94070-00/273490598260?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 I didn't have a puller around and ordered this one for $24: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Tusk-Flywheel-Puller-Remover-35mm-YAMAHA-GRIZZLY-350-400-450-550-660-700-rotor/172483117628?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2060353.m2749.l2649 @Frank Angerano Thanks for your offer on sending the puller but shiping there and back, it was worth to just get one and have it on hand part of my "collection" 😁

Sounds to me like you have a bad starter if you jumped the solenoid and the starter did not turn. You can get these for under $40 on eBay. https://www.ebay.com/itm/153890739007 with solenoid: https://www.ebay.com/itm/280856205165

@Frank Angerano great advice! The fastest I can get the gasket is on eBay https://www.ebay.com/p/1127879845?iid=124148034979 Amazon is no longer 2 days to me and really sucks lately because of everything going on. I had to drain the antifreeze to get the cover off. Didn’t touch the water pump, just disconnected the coolant hoses.

Like @Frank Angerano and @Ted Craig its probably tie rods. Without knowing what kind of car, can't tell you exactly what else it could be, but more than likely you got a bad inner or outer tie rod. Sometimes 3 and 9 could be a bad lower ball joint or a control arm bushing, which a front end check by GY should determine.

I think I'll do that and see. Oil looked pretty dark, so just ordered it online with a filter and will get a gasket and some loctite for the bolts and see what happens.

Anyone getting stuff done at home?

NICE!!! I'm assuming you freeze it? BTW, picture of lights on the dresser and outside look great! -
yep, looks like that to me. Hit the starter and the flywheel is turning like it wants to start. That chain looks loose to me but no sure if its supposed to be like that.. The videos in the post are mp4. here are .mov files from my iphone.. I'm tempted to just get a gasket and put it back to gether but don't know. IMG_1671.MOV IMG_1672.MOV

So I spent a little time on it today, put the starter back in and took off the cover. I hit the ignition with the cover off and it seems to be working... IMG_1671.mp4 IMG_1672.mp4

Anyone getting stuff done at home?

I power washed my deck and painted with thompson's water seal yesterday. Wife and daughter helped. Power washed our grill as well. Mark this done! Power wash deck and stain/water proofing Cool! we want to build a pergola over our deck and grow grape, but we'll have to see how much I get done off the list first...lol. My wife planted the grape vine by the deck already... What kind of lighting? Deck post lighting or other? -
You came to the right place! So low compression is usually piston rings or the cylinder head. Does it smoke at all? Is it burning oil? I’m assuming it’s still at the shop?

Wow @Frank Angerano that's a lot! I ordered about $200 from home depot on Sunday, still waiting for local delivery. This has inspired me to type out my list.... Done so far: Installed new pre-hung door in basement cleaned and organized basement and storage Planted about 100 seedling bushes Started our outdoor garden and planted seeds Yard cleanup, planted and trimmed additional bushes Fixed rotted boards on deck Fixed roof shingles that came off roof Wired a new 3 way switch in basement Wired an outdoor outlet for security cam Went to the reservoir to check on row boat, did some fishing To do list: Landscaping, need some excavator work, drainage Power wash deck and stain/water proofing Fix my quad... Fix my aerator quad attachment (ordered new bar) Aerate and seed grass, fertilize, etc. Cut some rock in my driveway Re-plant some smaller pine trees Get a dumpster and clean out my garage (has a lot of construction debris from our addition last year) New bathroom in addition (still studs/bare and holding off for financial reason to see what happens with work and corona-virus) Fix water leaking inside our Chevy equinox Clean basement gym, clean off treadmill and bike...get into some exercising! Build a minnow tank in my garage and order online for fishing -
@Rigo Mena Did you solve your issue?

I used to have a gopro and recently was thinking about getting a new camera for when I go riding or for whatever else. There seems to be so many on Amazon, cheap...GoPro imitations, has anyone purchased anything like this? Recommendations?

@Rich1028 great video, looks like fun!

That's nice of you, I'll let you know definitely when I get into it. I have a few pullers for cars and may have one from an old yamaha I worked on years ago. I have to look. So you think it just went like that? Once I get the cover off I'm going to check. I think what's going on is something like this video I found on youtube: I'm going to get into it later today or tomorrow to see what's up. Thanks for the tip!

I didn't hear any grinding. I think that's the next step this week, pull the cover to see. Yeah its just completely not engaged. something must have broke under the cover.
