Hello,

thanks for having this great site
i just bought my first new to me quad.

I bought a 2008 Yamaha Bug Bear 400.

I got it mainly for hunting but it came with a snow plow so the first test run at home was plowing mine and my neighbors driveways. Anyways thanks again.

Thanks, I bought Maxxis big horn 2.0’s (take off from a Yamaha Viking) which I learned after I bought them that they are different then off the rack big horn 2.0’s which is a piss off. Apparently the Yamaha ones are 4 ply rears and 2 ply fronts instead of 6 ply like the off the rack and the take offs are biased and not radials... That doesn’t make sense to me and is a piss off but I guess it is to save Yamaha money and mislead buyers.. :(

atleast I got them for a good price.

Hello everyone. I am here to learn, share my limited knowledge and hopfully fix a broken ATV.  I have been active in everything from automobile engine overhaul to 2 and 4-cycle equipment repair and maintenance. I have a 50 year plus background in airbourn electronics repair and maintenance as well as formal electrical/mechanical technical training with the Department of Defence. All that being said I still get stumped when I can not find the technical drawings, wiring diagrams, voltage and/or resistance specifications and support documentation needed when unusual problems present themselves. Which brings me to the reason I have turned to Quadcrazy.com.  I will be spending a little time getting familiar with this site then posting some questions concerning some particular problems with a customers ATV that I have in the shop for repair. Hopefully someone will be able to enlighten me and I will gladly help others as well to the best of my ability. Thanks in advance and get out there and make some noise.

Hello folks!  I'm Mitch, from Pittsburgh, PA, and new to the site.  Between me and my son, we own an old Suzuki LT250S, a Kawasaki KFX400 and a YZ250.  My young granddaughters love messing around on an old Suzuki FA50 moped.  We're going to be getting them their own quads in the near future.  I hope to gain some knowledge while I'm here.

I am glad to have found this forum. It has been helpful already and I have hardly ridden my 2002 Yamaha Bear Tracker YFM250 ATV. I just traded for it in a swap for a couple of older snowmobiles. It wasn't running. It's cold here in Maine and I don't have a heated place to work. It didn't have spark so I spent a lot of time tracing wires and replacing most suspicious components. Finally success. Now it won't stay running, I am about to get reading all the helpful advice from the posts to see what the problem might be. Happy to be part of your community. Thanks

Hello everyone. Another new guy here. I stumbled across this forum while looking for info on a '98 Bayou 220 I recently picked up. It's pretty rough and has some wiring issues, but I'm willing to work through it since it was free. I'll start a thread on it.

Greetings to all.  New to the forum, but not to ATVing.  I started when they only had 3 wheels!  Getting back into riding.  Polaris 850.  Too many bells and whistles, but what do you do.  Scouting out places to ride legally now.

      Background,
This winter (Dec.) I was plowing and everything just died, just quit.  No lights, no pull start, No nothing.  I've had this problem before and I changed the voltage reg and it ran fine for over a year. Then this.  So I changed it again, thinking this was the same problem.  Tried to start it and a small pin hole in the CDI appeared with electrical smoke.
Months go by and I finally decide to just replace parts (I'm Horrible at electrical issues).  I changed the stator, new CDI, new Voltage reg, new starter solenoid, tested the starter (prefect), charged the battery.
Went to start it and the solenoid rapidly clicked.  All the dash lights on, headlights work.  Pull stared it and it fired right up no issues.  Looked into the rapidly clicking starter solenoid and it was not enough juice in the battery.  Took the battery completely out and hooked up a jump box to it turned the key, light on, everything looks good.  Pushed the starter button and it fired right up ran great.  Turned it off to test it again, Turned the key and nothing.  No dash lights nothing.  Took the jump box off and pulled started it.  Started it right up.  Re-hooked the jump box, still nothing.
      Any Ideas?

Hi all! I'm a new member from northern Saskatchewan. I plan on buying a new ATV and do some exploring in the Precambrian Shield/Boreal Forest this coming Spring.
I hope to learn as much as I can on here before I make a purchase.
      Thanks.
