  1. Cheapest sh** you can find and a thin oil like a 20 weight. Keep in mind you can use kerosene as well for the initial few flushes and then the oil for the last few flushes.
  2. No sir. Just for honing and somewhat bringing a cylinder back from a minor warp condition.
  3. In general is always good.
  4. How I flush the motor. 1. Buy a few quarts of oil. 2. Buy a paint strainer (pic attached). 3. Fill the engine and swish around and pull the oil plug. 4. Drain the oil through the strainer and re use. 5. Repeat a few times.
  5. The cylinder should be honed pit with a honing tool. I’ve attached a pic for you. The pastor can be cleaned with starting fluid. Def put a new set of rings in as well. That honer goes into a drill and you go up and down the cylinder nice and easy at a slow speed.
  6. If the head has been removed previous times and the person or persons that have done it in the past have scraped the old gaskets away, shavings do fall into the crank case if the mechanic was not careful along with any gasket adhesive that was squeezed into the head when the head was tightened down.
  7. Sounds like a fun project. I like to start with a rolling frame, suspension in place and all steering components as well. After that it’s all motor work. Soup to nuts with the carburetor, exhaust and drive train in place. Fill with required fluids and check for leaks. Don’t be afraid to use thread lock as you go. It really helps to prevent bolts from coming loose. I like to clean up all the major tools wipe everything down good and its on to the wiring. After the wiring is complete I like to do a quick check to see there is spark and the starter is working with the push button etc. After that it’s all about the brakes and controls on the handle bars and foot pegs, shifters and brake pedal. Once all that’s good to go the. The gas tank, plastics and wrap the last few details up test the lights and you should be good to go. If it all goes well and rides proper go back over the bike after a few rides one more time checking for any loose items, bolts screws etc. good luck.
  8. Yes sir run it down and it should land behind the swing arm someplace at the back of the engine and just hang.
  9. Any parts show up ?
  10. I wouldn’t be so quick to do that. Side to side is ok. If that bearing is tight and no play up and down just flush it out with some oil and put it back together.
  11. I don’t think they go bad like spark plugs that’s a little extreme. I’ve only replaced a few in my time. Unless they are soaked or damaged or had “reverse polarity” @JacobSlabach 😬 think they hold up for the most part.
  12. Wow. Way to get into it kid! How’s the main crank feel? Any play ?
  13. That’s a good idea on taking the engine apart but keep the mindset that your taking apart to put back together. This way your not careless with parts at damaging the engine. As far as listing part numbers I guess you can buy the year make and model should suffice when selling.
  14. Good stuff. Revisit that bolt that holds the lever on after a little riding and make sure it’s tight. I actually put a drop of silicone on the bolt before a sent it back in. Let us know how it works out.
  15. Ok I know the part. I am not 100% sure but I remember seeing from the inside when I had my cover off a rounded imprint where the seal sat so I’m going to say it comes off from the outside. Going to need a pick to get it out I would assume. I can’t be sure though. Worst case, buy the part and see what it looks like and go from there. If you have to pull the cover however later on then it’s a pain in the as* job. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F181777079026
  16. Where what connects? The carb should only have a fuel line and an over flow if I’m not mistaken. I have one of these bikes and have pulled the carb plenty of times. I don’t remember any other lines going to or coming from the carb.
  17. it’s a possibility to find another bike for a fair price even if you have to wait for one to come along. $1500 is too high I think. But I would def play around with this one in the mean time. Learn a few things about the motor and how it works etc. As far as plastics and the rest of the parts on the bike of in good shape can be worth a good piece of change.
  18. It could be gasket adhesive or silicone remnants. If it’s blue or red.
  19. What is all that. The pic is not so clear. Metal?
  20. It happens. Crazy as it sounds but pistons don’t choose a time to go and I could be wrong but I’ve blown a ton of pistons and that’s what it sounds like to me on your bike.
  21. I would call a go kart a go kart. But a quad all the people I ride with call them bikes. Even when they get a new one they say hey I gotta a new bike. But too each his own.
  22. I think there is a big storm going on in the mid west right now. I seen something on the news this am. Talking about 2 plus feet of snow???? Relentless winter.
  23. Good stuff. How does it run and ride ?
