Ok so I bought the 05 brute force and after putting about 60miles on it I have some concerns.
The engine seems to run REALLY HOT, like almost burnning my legs through my jeans hot but no warning light comes on and it doesnt seem to "act" hot is this normal, does it have any saftey feature to prevent over heating or heat damage?
It also seems to have a slight miss, or hesitation? When you slightly crack the throttle open and hold it at a steady RPM to give it a slightly higher idle it will run smooth for a couple seconds then miss and sometimes backfires. It also seems to sometimes have a hesitation if you jump on the throttle, what could cause this?
Also a couple times when shifting from reverse to high it sounded like it got hung up in between and there was a slight squeal as if maybe the belt was slipping and there was also a slight burning plastic of rubber smell. The belt IS new and it doesnt feel as if it is slipping when accelerating and the belt light hasnt come on.
Anyone have any suggestions?
It does seem to run really well and HARD accept for the slight hesitation or cough and the occasional backfire, I ran it up to 69MPH with both me and a buddy of mine on it, combined weight of almost 500lbs

I am in the process of puting it back together after replacing the DPS gearbox.
The manual I have states that it will need to be flashed by a dealer. Is this still true?
Also , I have a mystery bolt That I cannot remember where it goes. M6x 70 or so. Hex head with a flat washer.I will try to attach a pic.
Pic is no go for now....Cox issue I will try again later
TIA

Hello from southeast Georgia. Was gifted a 2000 Yamaha bear tracker with out a carb or battery and looking like it had seen better days. Was told it had sat for about three years. Explained a lot. Put a carb on and a battery in and it started right up. Surprised the heck out of me Anyhow as stated in my opening I am 78 years old with a very long motorcycle backgground but brand new to atv's. Anyone else out here from Georgia? Would like to meet up with some folks for a ride or two. Looks like a great site. Thanks for having me.

Hey everyone!
Ya'll have been so great and welcoming to our new Ambassador program, we wanted to be sure that Quad Crazy was getting info directly from us about the Stay The Trail educational program too.
The program was started in 2003 with the purpose of educating the public about responsible trail use and fostering a sense of stewardship among OHV enthusiasts.
The "Where To Go" section of our website is another great resource for anyone looking for trail info. We host all of the Motor Vehicle Use Maps (MVUM) and overlay them on the Google mapping system. We want this site to be the place you go to for trail maps as you plan a run. The MVUM maps show what trails are open for what types of vehicles. If a trail is not on these maps, it is not an open trail.
We attend events and set up at trailheads throughout the season to ensure that folks are getting the info and education they need to be responsible on public trails. We have posters and brochures that quickly review these guidelines (all of the Etiquette info can also be found on the website).
Very soon, we will have a HUGE announcement about mobile mapping options!
Sam and Matt are going to be around on the forum, keeping everyone updated on what is new with the program and answering questions. Feel free to ask us any questions!
Oh – and don’t forget to follow us on FACEBOOK!
