Is the hole in the sidewall? You may be able to get away with a vulcanizing patch kit. If not and the tires are new you can always use a tube.

My quad is spending the night!!!!!

To make it easier, break the suction from the mud before winching. We usually do this by pulling up and out. Either by prying the quad up as it is pulled or by winching from a higher point. Good Luck!! I can't wait for the pics. We can always have a most stuck contest! -

Good Morning! Snow and sleet on the way, well at least this month is almost over. -
If the engine stalls there is definately a problem. Check the two bolts that hold the clutch on. That is the most common problem with them backing off. If this is the case be careful if you still choose to run it so you don't crack the cases. It could also be the rollers sticking but I doubt it. Take the clutch cover off, remove the clutches, clean everything with brake cleaner and then reinstall the clutches with red loctite to about 250 ft lbs of torque (check the repair manual for exact number).

Good Morning QC! -
Welcome to QC. Make sure you stop back and let us know how you did with the races.

Does it sound like a bell ringing? Sometimes when you stop suddenly the belt wedges in-between the plates and holds the primary open allowing the clutch to make noise. To me it sounds like a bell through the snorkels. I would also pull the cover and make sure the primary and secondary nuts are tight, they should have been put in place with red loctite.

Glad its the weekend! Happy Friday! -
If you do not have a newer computer it will be very hard to edit HD. I found this out the hard way. I dropped all that cash on a recorder and then had to go out and buy a new computer. One trip alone places me at about 5 to 8 gigs of data for HD. Gunny what are some of your file sizes before editing?

2001 Yamaha Kodiak 400 YFM Noise & Hard Pull Start

This may be way off base but did you check the valve clearance. It would be a cheap resolution and cost nothing to check. I know bad tolerances with valves cause hard starting. -
Hey welcome to the forums. I left a reply under your other post: http://www.quadcrazy.com/atvforum/yamaha-atv-forum/11019-01-kodiak-400-yfm-noise-hard-pull-start.html#post63974
