  1. I downloaded the service manual and wiring diagram from here: http://www.quadcrazy.com/atvforum/arctic-cat-atv-forum/8558-need-service-manual-here-they.html Additionally I cleaned the circuit board on the Pod Gauge and it seemed to fix the problem for now.
  2. No same Oil as always, I am not really sure if there is a switch on the bike for oil pressure or low oil.
  3. Ok I am totally stumped on this one any ideas even if they are out of the box are appreciated. My wife has a 2007 Arctic Cat 500 Auto and just recently after I changed the oil getting ready for the riding season the oil light, when started, comes on for a while and then goes out. I can't figure it out for the life of me. I have a few ideas but I would like to hear a different perspective from the forum.
  4. Does the motor turn over when the starter is pushed. Here are some quick checks on the later models but the same theory should apply. Make sure the kill switch is in the right position to run. (Silly but sometimes this is the problem) Check that the brake light is on and depress the brake lever before starting in netural. (Start in gear switch) Change the gas and make sure it is getting to the carb. Change the plug. Check for spark (Old plugs can spark outside of the case but under pressure fail) I have some other ideas but hopefully some of these work. The other ideas are model specific so I have to do some homework. Let me know how these work for you first.
  5. Check here for the service manual: http://www.quadcrazy.com/atvforum/arctic-cat-atv-forum/8558-need-service-manual-here-they.html Does the quad have a pull start and does that work? I would also check and make sure none of the shielding on the wiring has melted or warn thru.
  6. This was a great write-up! I think for me adjusting the cab is the hardest part of working on the quad. As a mudder, you can keep the EFI for trail bikes and leave me with the carb. A lot of OEM ECU or EFI controllers can not handle aftermarket parts well and you have to upgrade them also. Two things to note is that different brand jet sizes are not the same, so a Keihin, DynoJet, or Mikuni have different opening sizes for the same number. Also besides doing plug chops a wide band O2 sensor or Air/Fuel Ratio Gauge is awesome for tuning.
  7. Good Morning Everyone! The weeend is almost here.
  8. I love how the weather conditions change all in one video.
  9. Glad you had a good time. Spring and Fall are the best times to ride.
  10. I am about to get a go pro. I would be very intrested in this new brand. I look forward to hear some reviews and may hold off on the go pro for a bit.
  11. I think time will tell, look at Kymco. The thing you have to keep in mind is that just because some of these companies make parts for the big name brands that doesn't mean the QA/QC are held to the same standards when selling it under their own brand name. Polaris and Arctic Cat were off brand names for the longest time and still some people view them as inferior. The truth be told everyone has their favorites and I have seen bran new Arctic Cats with 2 miles on them fail and others last a lifetime with no major problems. You need to pick the ATV you are happy with. It comes down to two items in my mind initial build/parts quality and owner maintenance. I agree with OB definately come back and post your reviews if you buy one.
  12. So did they give you the other address, if not get it and give the people a call. I know the area and they might be honest enough or return it for a "reward". If UPS delivered it to the wrong address would't it be on them?
  13. Northern Dad, Welcome to QC and thanks for signing up and sharing your experience.
  14. Mornin' Thanks OB, So where did Bot and the boys place over the weekend?
  15. I have seen them used a lot and have a few friends that run them. The only advice I will offer is that they work well but change the handling of your truck. They are a good option if you need to haul a trailer and quads. The guys at diamond back seemed friendly when I met them at rock run a few years ago, give them a call and talk thru your concerns.
  16. Those views are awsome.
  17. You still have snow up there huh? It has been in the high 60s all this week.
  18. Good Morning, Just finished working on the quads, we will be hitting the trails in about 6 hours.
  19. So is your motor stolen? Can you turn it into the insurance company?
  20. I love that front bumper!
  21. A plug chop is where you check the color of the plug at different positions of the throttle. I would Google this and read up on the basics. The most important is to kill the motor with the kill switch and not just decelerate. The three positions are pilot jet 0- 1/4 throttle needle 1/4 to 1/2 throttle and main jet 1/2+ throttle. It sounds like there are no major changes in elevation and you have a great idea of the background with your friend owning it. As soon as you get fuel/air sorted out it will run a lot stronger. To me it doesn't make sense to change the jetting if there were no mods completed. As for the vent hose it shouldn't allow air into the bowl. You should be able to run these carbs under water with no problem the only air into the carb comes from the intake. Because it was sitting so long I would remove all the vent hoses (on both sides) and blow some compressed air thru them, maybe they are blocked with a bugs nest or debris.
