2008 Artic Cat 400 4x4 Auto - Carb Problems
swampcat07 replied to robert63's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
I was guessing there may have been something obstructing the main jet. If the dealer worked on the carb and it is a carb problem I would take it back to them first. Sounds like the float was stuck and overflowing, did they say if they cleaned the carb when they replaced the jet? Only seems logical. Also they could have used the wrong size jet or put the carb back together wrong. (Slide, Clip, Diaphram, etc) The other place I would check besides the carb is for an obstruction/problem in the air intake system. Mice Nest, Dirty Filter, Loose Connection, Open Airbox Lid. -

2008 Artic Cat 400 4x4 Auto - Carb Problems
swampcat07 replied to robert63's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Rob welcome to the forums. I would start by draining the gas, cleaning the carb, and visually checking for air of vacuum leaks. I with today's gas I would not let it stand more than 2 weeks without an additive. Take the carb out and clean it either a jet could be obstructed, float sticking or the overflow on the bowl blocked. Check the intake boot and vacuum lines are secure. The down hill riding problem can be due to the engine breaking engaging and changing the idle of the engine. I think cleaning the carb and new gas should solve the problem. Stop back and let us know how you are progressing. I also merged both post so all of the replies can be in the same spot. -
Not sure on the center to center width but these guys would know. The ATV in the picture is 48" wide so the wheels center to center should be around 52" +/- but then you can add 1" or 2" wheel spacers or they can custom build the a-arms longer before you order the axels. Home - MUDTECHinc Custom ATV Fabrication Should be able to hook you up with the lift and axels. I am being partial but an Arctic Cat Diesel would be awesome for this job and you might even be able to run a bio diesel. At first I would have suggested a low cc gas machine like a 400 but then you might need additional power to turn large tires if you choose to use 30" plus tires. Let me know if you are going to place an order with the Mud Tech Guys the phone numbers on their site are the easiest way to get a hold of them and tell them swampcat sent ya.

2000 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 Fuel Problems
swampcat07 replied to jjlangford74's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
I agree with everyone above, give it another cleaning. Also I am not sure if the 2000 is gravity fed or not but make sure you have the fuel turned off when the quad is sitting. And if you have snorkels sometimes (vary rare) when transporting the ATV there is a sort a vacuum on the carb and it can draw excess gas into the carb and leak past the rings. -
