  1. I think you pulled the wrong black wire. Find the reverse limiter and follow that black wire and disconnect. Here's what you're looking for.

  2. I think there is a reverse speed limiter that goes bad and when you hold down the override it bypasses it. Take a look at some of the youtube videos to bypass it to test.

  4. Good Morning all. New member from Maryland. My family, wife +2, recently entered the atv/dirt bike world. Weird background: Farm boy, engineering undergrad, work in the construction industry. Novice+ mechanical skills.....but well equipped, looking to expand ability.

  5. This is more of an informational fix I wanted to share.. My Grizzly has been getting harder and harder to shift this winter and today was completely stuck and I needed to plow the few inches that came down this morning. First thought...oh no, tranny...but it’s winter and maybe it’s iced up. I pulled off the plastic to see what was going on and indeed I did find the drain tube iced up. I took the blow dryer out and de-iced it. Quick fix, I never really thought about the shifter drain tube icing up before, shifts like new! FA04AC3B-4FB0-4764-AFD9-1492F5CC790B.MOV

  6. You know I'm not sure really, I'm assuming snow got in there and I left it out in the rain a few times before the winter. That line is just a drain and has a plug at the end of it. I think its just there to hold any water/condensation or if you submerge it to drain the shifter box I guess. But that tube had ice in it because the quad sits in my garage outside with no heat. Yeah I'm glad it wasn't a major issue, I need this thing to keep going until I can get a new quad down the road. 💵

  9. Reviving a pretty old thread, sorry. Factoring in I've not ventured of Maryland's Eastern Shore, does anyone have thoughts on where to visit for a long family weekend? Kids are 6 & 8 (50cc), wife and I are on bikes. Thanks in advance

  11. The simple fact that this thread has not spun out of control speaks volumes to the conduct on the forum......I realize this is my first post. I have spent some time on another forum, this thread would have played out differently. I opened this one out of morbid curiosity. Kudos to you guys.

  13. I got a polaris sportsman 500 that has park (an 04 model). I dont think from my experience it is bad for your tranny. Does it put stress on it? yes, the more weight you put on it, the more pull will be on the parking system-- but its made to handle that stress and its not bad for it. transmitions are tough on those quads--- btw what quad you got? My friend pulled his family's 4x4 ford Excursion out of the mud (this thing was a monster diesel with a lift and over sized tires) using his 02 polaris sportsman 500- tranny never even wined... he just had to get his fam to sit on his bike cause it didnt have enough weight on it.......😎

  14. It is hard to find a forum with people whom actucally help. From my experience with other forums. Their degrading or calling someone dumb due to others mechanical background or abilities. So what I have seen so far, and the 1 question I have asked. And the quick response I have already received. I'm hoping to find a mechanic/buddy or two to teach me a thing or two. Maybe get a trail ride in. I will gladly share my outcomes, trials & errors.
