  1. When the bike is ice cold is it a little hard to push ?
  2. Welcome to Quadcrazy @Wes Camp that sucks about the engine locking up. You should be careful about trying to rock the bike or to keep trying to kick start it. You could do more damage then good. Your piston and rings may have went. I would start by double checking the basic stuff first like the kick starter making sure nothings stopping that. Then move to pulling the plug and see if the engine spins with the plug out. Don’t force it when trying that . If not then you may want to pull the head and cylinder off and inspect the piston and rings along with rotating the crank to see if the main bearing is ok. My guess is a piston and rings is needed. But just hope it didn’t damage the cylinder walls. If you pull the cylinder and see a chunk of the piston missing then there you go.
  3. If you ride it then it’s a bike! Did my HARO freestyle bike have spokes ? Nope it had mags. Spokes don’t mean anything. Sh** wheelchairs have spokes!
  4. Can you post a pic of the actual location on the bike ? I’m at a loss where it goes.
  5. If it was the neutral safety switch which is what I suspected, the way to test it was to add a ground to the green. That should have closed the relay if the brown has 12v. The relay may be bad. But I thought you did that ?
  6. Hahah bikes before brakes!!!! 😬 nothing worse then waiting on parts!
  7. Ain’t that a bi***. Oh well better off it happens now then later after your tools and stuff are all cleaned and put away. How did the rest of the project go? Timing, reassembly etc ?
  8. Yep that would work just don’t let that positive cable touch anything. I’m sure you can buy a plug that you can wire in also so it can be unplugged.
  9. Honestly I would not spend any money until it’s apart and you know the cylinder/engine are good. If it’s just a rust lip in the cylinder that needs to be cleaned and honed then it’s a score and a gasket kit only. If it’s a strong motor then it’s worth fixing and selling. Cosmetic work is easy.
  10. That’s a good question. You will have to study the two side by side and do a comparison on them. Your going to have to take a look at the engine covers where the drive connects to the front wheels on the engine/tranny. The years are close enough for a parts match but you never know. I had a fourtrax 4x4 that I was rebuilding. I needed some additional parts. Picked up a 2x4 bike one year later model and all my parts matched. As I was looking at the engine the side cover had the indentations for the front drive shaft connection on the engine but was not a 4x4. My guess is that it’s easier to have a common engine case made and only have to change the covers/drive housing. The way I seen it I could have used that motor on my 4x4 by putting the side cover and the small drive shaft assembly on the engine from the 4x4 model. On your bike the drive shaft has a bolt on drive shaft assembly I guess you would call it the bevel gear housing That turns the drive shaft and has a small shaft coming out of the back of it. The 4x4 model has two small drive shafts coming out of it on the front and back I would think that would be your focus as far as fit up goes. If your engine can accept that drive shaft housing then you would be able to put that motor on the 4x4 frame.
  11. You would think so, I was surprised also but between the 10 amp fuse and the resistance from the distance of wire mine holds up just fine.
  12. Your welcome. Ride safe !
  13. Have you checked the fuel from the tank to make sure your flowing? Shut off valve, filter or screen inside the tank if there’s one? The fuel air mixture screw set properly? What did you set it at? If all above is good then sounds like a typical cleaning that was done but something was left behind. Go back and take the carb off, open it up and double check everything! Make sure your reassembly of the choke was done correctly, the float was set at the proper height and the the fill needle that allows fuel to enter the carburetor connected to the float has no junk in the port or on the needle itself. Blow all the ports out with a little air pressure. When an engine starts to rev up it’s mimicking a choke condition starving for fuel. Not saying you did a bad job but sh** happens. I’ve done it and gone back before to find out that when I put the carb back on it worked fine.
  14. It’s most likely bad tie rod ends. It’s a small ball joint (see picture) that’s connected by the steering to each wheel at the end of the tie rods. There is also one more connection where the steering rod comes down through the frame and connects to the tie rods. Check there as well. They are the only two spots that will have a joint that will allow for your problem.
  15. Lol I wish I could give you a hand brother but we have walked many through some tough projects here. Lots of pics and ask as many questions as you need to.
  16. That’s a dirt bike throttle on the atv lol get rid of it. It’s dangerous! The cylinder... pull it. Never know what’s going on in there. See if it’s even worth putting money into it. Worst case you part it out if it’s shot. The clutch is prob tight from sitting and full of junk. Best to pull the cover and clean it out and see how everything looks. I would order a full gasket kit once you see if its worth going forward. The exhaust looks fine that cloth wrap is a high heat tape that’s commonly used on motorcycle, atv and dirt bikes. The DG pipe is a good brand pipe. Take it off wire brush and paint with high heat flat black paint. If the engine is shot the bike parts are worth money. Head assembly, plastics etc but yiu need to clean them up and sell on CL worst case. But see how it goes first.
  17. Well I’m an optimistic kinda guy so let’s say you got lucky and pulling the head has to be done anyway so get after it and get the head off and we will go from there. First things first get the piston to top dead center and a big piece of cardboard. Put the cardboard up against a wall and as you take bolts out punch a hole into the cardboard and stick the bolt in the cardboard and write on the cardboard what bolt its for. That will help you keep track. Spray the exhaust bolts down long ahead of time, they are rusted and always a problem and snap easy so go gentle with them.
  18. Welcome to Quadcrazy!!!
  19. It will turn and prob will start but you will hear a knock. Are you positive it was ran out of oil ? I’m assuming you have some background history of the bike ?
  20. The main bearing and crank shaft assembly is the main component that makes the engine run. I don’t want to put the cart before the horse here and have you ripping the engine apart for nothing. So you have to pull the head off no doubt. The you have to move the the crank (rotate it) up and down to see how it moves. And there should be no play (wiggle room) up and down. If this bearing is bad then the entire motor has to come off the bike and split apart. It’s not just a nuts and bolts thing unfortunately. It’s huge undertaking. I posted some images from the manual for you.
  21. Yep I know that bike well. There are still plenty around. Should be able to get it up and running.
  22. That’s a good looking bike! Any luck with the vin ?
  23. Try this. You have to buy both items separately but it works great. Been there trying to get the clips on the battery. I just plug the alligator clip in and to any jumper cables or battery. The best part about this is the plug side that gets bolted on to the battery is the same clip that can accept a trickle charger or any accessories that you may want to plug into and is protected by an inline fuse. 24. Very similar looking carbs. I would bet it’s the right one which is awesome because if I have to hear about you and one more of the Chinese carburetors!!!!!! Just kidding. Ok well we’ll waiting on some pics !
