  1. I noticed the butt splice in the photo is also showing signs of burning out. Clear indication of an overload. Is there an inline fuse with this kit? The photo does not show one. Any connection directly to the battery needs an inline fuse. It is dangerous not to have that, in the event of a short, that wire will get red hot and arc out. Wire gauge appears to be correct (14 gauge) for a 100 watt kit, so you seem to have an overload condition. Mike

  7. Ok well got the puller and new chain and gasket Saturday. Took the old chain out and laid it next to new one and you can defently see it was stretched. Put new one on and all back together. Made sure timing was good. It fired right up and ran smooth. Let it idle for a little bit no leaks or anything. Took it out for a small ride and runs better then before for sure. Thanks for your help Frank.

  8. @Frank Angerano great help here, could not have explained it any better! @Adrian Ciotinga pull that cover off and see what's going on, then post some pics.

  9. That’s the cover you want to pull if you want to see what’s going on with the clutch.

  10. So based on the pics it looks like something was taken off of the shaft in the pic? Is that correct. On the other side of the engine, is there a cover that’s much different ? the clutch assembly is generally bigger and it’s a larger size cover. Like I said I’m not familiar with that engine but the premise is pretty much the same as other engines. I’m just wondering if you have taken anything off. Is that the left side of the engine your showing ?

  11. That’s not a clutch!!!!!!!!!! But like you said new to this you are. That’s a break cylinder. And that’s a break lever. I knew you were not explaining it correctly.

  12. If you can fix that wire for a quick test that would help. Take an amp probe and put it around the wire with and without the high beams on. See what your reading. That’s the first thing I would do. If that wire is coming from a relay then there’s a problem with the wire set up. Maybe an overload on that one wire where there shouldn’t be. But do that test first and see what the amperage is.

  13. Ok, after a slight distraction I finally got back to working on the quad. I did as suggested and started testing the ohms on the stator and pick up coils. Everything was checking out good (within the expected reading from the manual). I did notice I had the ‘ol random wire (red wire) that didn’t seam to go anywhere. After a little digging I found that It was part of the wire grouping that went to the coil. After unwrapping an abundance of tape I found where the failed “repair” was made. I reconnected the wire and bam I have spark. After putting everything back together I dialed in the carb and this quad is back up and running! Big shout out to Frank for pointing me in the right direction. Huge help man, thank you!

  15. nice @Frank Angerano! I just follow whats on the tire no questions asked lol they can hold a lot of air though- not recommended, I picked up my sportsman from my friend and one day decided to check the pressure- supposed to be around 10 psi (these are kenda executioners) and he had pumped them the 40 psi in front and 50 rear- needles to say I immediately let the pressure out down to spec...

  16. We had a lot of snow here too, especially in the higher elevations. I don't want it to melt too fast because that causes a lot of errosion, but, at the same time, I am eager to get trackin.

  17. Hello Everyone, We are trying to start a small group of youth riding ATVs to show them the outdoors and give them a taste of something they can do other than just sit on the couch, play video games, watch TV and text message their friends. Our motivation to start this project has been the increase of juvinile crimes, vandalism, drinking & drugging that has been rising in our neck of the woods. We are trying to find people who have broken but fixable or old atvs that they no longer use that they could donate to this project. We could also use any information you can give us on ATV junk yards or random trashed ATVs that people might not be using and are just letting go to waste. I know this isn't a nation wide search, but I was hoping maybe this would draw some attention to what we are trying to do in our area and possibly get a spark going in others to help in their community some way. If you want some more information about how you could help us ( in Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma or Louisiana ) please consider dropping us a line at [email protected] or Help Fuel The Passion. Thank you for reading this post and for any help or information you can give us. Thanks Admin for allowing me to post this!
