  1. Cable drum brakes right? What did you buy? Pads or cables? What year is it?
  2. I should have asked earlier, is it still on warranty?
  3. That link was for an older model and might be configured different. Get a manual to be sure you are on the right pins and have the correct procedure.
  4. Do you have a manual for it? I did not see one available on the forum sticky. MYGREENMANUALS - REPAIR MANUAL DOWNLOADS might have.
  5. You need to get a read on your ECM first. Call auto or ATV part stores and ask if they have the ability to read. It requires a "dealer tool" which plugs into the ECM connector. You can jumper it but I wouldn`t advise this unless you are an experienced mechanic. I did a quick search to buy one but haven`t seen anything. Here is a basic description of the process. Getting trouble codes from your ECU on king
  6. My friend has 2007 Honda TRX680FA Rincon. He wants to know if there is a power steering mod available for this? I don`t see anything in the service manual indicating it might have been a stock option.
  7. I agree that brand of spray paint holds up well. Better on frame sections than racks. The racks get a lot of scraping because of bungies and cargo sliding on it. Of course with any paint work the key is in the prep. Sand and clean really well. I use 4-5 coats on a cargo rack.
  8. Thanks. I painted it with rustoleum black texture. I really like having the side rails. Much easier to secure my gear box and spare gas can to. My emergency ration kit contains vodka for the blood sugar boost.
  9. I love the 09 450 King Quad I just got. However the racks are anemic. I just happen to have a spare vintage (91-98) KQ rear rack and noticed the front frame attach struts are the same distance apart. Then the gears in my head started turning. I drilled holes through the side of the struts on the spare rack. Cut out a T-bar from a scrap bumper from a vintage KQ for the back attach point. Now I have a man size rack on my machine.
  10. Best way I can think to isolate it is to disconnect the transmission output shaft to the sub transmission. If it still makes noise its in the transmission. If not its in the sub transmission or the final drive.
  11. What`s the issue? I just did a tear down on the final drive of my 86.
  12. I`ve never seen a torque on those. Attached is a snip from an 01 KQ manual. Should be the same. Tighten in criss cross and evenly until no gap on the plates. Be careful. I`ve broken these bolts making them too tight.
  13. If you find a good deal on that kit let me know.
  14. Good observation. Possible more broken strands in the cable shroud preventing the cable from moving full travel.
  15. Yeah it can be hard on the thumb for long flat rides and if it's below freezing. Be nice if there was a combo setup. Thumb and twist throttle. A system where you could disengage the twist throttle when riding rough.
  16. I`m not familiar with your machine, but I would go for an adjustment first. Do you have a manual for it?
  17. Thumbs up for thumb throttle on a 4 wheeler. Think of those occasions when you are trying to finagle out of a jam in contorted body positions. Facing backwards jumping on the front rack for example. Thumb throttle is easier to manipulate in that position.
  18. First full weekend out. Got my front accessories setup. M1A rifle with folding stock so I can grab it quick for close encounters. Mirror to check if my children are still following. Water proof case for my BlackBerry Z10 with charger.
  19. I think you troubleshot it to the switch. Sounds like it got stuck closed again. Verify with a continuity check on cold engine and start shopping for one. I dont have a manual for your rig. Might need to drain the oil.
  20. At least you narrowed the problem down to the switch. Sounds like it was stuck closed. Now will it be stuck open? Yes run it but don't stray too far. If you get an overheat light and the fan doesn't come on you'll need to shut it down for a while.
  21. Ive never used it. Here are the equivalents on mobiles website. API GL-4 is probably a universal spec. Mobilfluid 424 Hydraulic fluid. Might check heavy or farm equipment suppliers or an ATV dealer.
  22. Great. Glad Ox pointed you in the right direction. Final drive gear oil is Mobile fluid 424. 770ml capacity. Front diff is SAE90 hypoid gear oil.
