  1. Pictured are the tubes for your fuel vacuum activators. You might not have the horn in the center depending on your fuel tank valve. In the back top, two vent hoses that route up underneath the shift lever panel. Fuel feed goes in lower left near the bowl.
  2. First, here is my post about these: http://www.quadcrazy.com/atvforum/suzuki-atv-forum/13672-91-98-king-quad-starters.html Since, the machine I was changing these on has fully failed to start electrically. I talked to the local mechanic. He said the shaft the starter idle gear rides on breaks out of the recess it sits in. He has a fix for it at $500. Pull the starter and look in the hole. Feel if the gear spins or wobbles. Otherwise you would have to pull the left hand crank case to investigate. I would first try to find a starter with good splines and see how that holds up. For me, I just used to pull starting it. Not worth it for me to tear into it at this point. Winter project maybe.
  3. The crank case covers have gaskets: 2001 Suzuki LT-A500F Quad Master Parts, 2001 Suzuki LT-A500F Quad Master OEM Parts - BikeBandit.com
  4. You should be getting the same VDC in and out of the solenoid (relay). If I understand your post correctly you have 13 in and 10 out. Usually clicking noise is the relay bouncing in and out of contact. First, hot jump your starter straight from the battery to make sure your battery and starter are good. Then check the wiring from the start control to the relay and the ground wire. Do you have a wire diagram for this?
  5. Just got back from a 3 day hunting trip over nasty terrain. Last day did a 53 mile round trip and the return with Caribou meat. The steering bump on these is pretty bad. Came home with bruises on my palms. Anyone know of a good steering stabilizer device? I`m looking at the one in the link. Seems awesome, but the price! 6. Turn the fuel valve off and see how it is when you starve the carb
  7. hmmm... you took care of the spark stuff. If the chain jumped it would be hard to start again. Same if your valves are whack. Thinking fuel starvation or flooding. Do you have a suction fuel pump?
  8. Well I thought you were to keep it fired up. Initially it sounded like a stuck starter to me. Try pulling that out and use the pull start. Also thinking timing chain jumped. Did you check the timing?
  9. Are you on the starter button the whole time during this?
  10. The 280 with oil cooler is a King Quad. Check the VIN again. Like OX, says something is wrong.
  11. Good advice from Ox and Gears. For your model, the 90`s King Quads have a lot of interchangeable parts.
  12. I have never tried it. I cant think how it would be a problem other than the inconvenience of the inverted valve stems. Give it a go and tell us how it is.
  13. Ambitious project. You have to figure a way to lengthen throttle, rear brake, choke, and transmission shift cables. Then there is wiring. Fuel and breather tubes will be easy.
  14. I`m not familiar with this machine but off hand sounds like timing or valve adjustment problem. Does it give you any fault codes? Are you the original owner?
  15. Assuming LTF250 model, do you plan to push the tank and handle bars forward of the engine?
  16. Link foir VIN decoder:Universal detailed VIN Decoder - free check vehicles from US/EU market VIN-Decoder.NET Ebay has owners manuals.
  17. And I thought I was resurrectionist. Nicely done. Should hold up just fine for casual use. Here`s a link to the some of the fender fixes we`ve done: FrankenQuad: where we started - Forums - 907Outdoors Keep an eye on the timing chain. Might be a bad adjuster or its stretched.
  18. Or a chunk of metal or debris in the crank case that slides out of the case low spot sumps and comes in contact with a spinning gear. Is it pointed up hill or down hill when it happens?
  19. While at idle, pull the fuel pump and tank valve suck tubes to see if there is fuel in them.
  20. K&N filters are good. If you havent done it in a while, overhaul the carb and adjust the valves. I would stop with the above because you can only get so much out of a 250. There should be jet kits you can get for the carb. There are performance mufflers available but they are expensive and probably not worth putting on your model.
  21. No idea what Suzuki`s warranty is. Give the dealer the vin number. They should be able to find out. Worth asking the question regardless.
