  1. What year is the atv? https://www.partzilla.com/catalog/kawasaki/atv/2007/kfx700-ksv700b7f/front-fender-s https://www.partzilla.com/product/kawasaki/35063-0067?ref=e81ec24199cb2d89e1f9d6df43c303165a12e87c
  2. Welcome to Quadcrazy. An 86!!!!!! Wow, thats great, good shape? Based on the year and what you have done it I would check the following. 1. Spark quality (maybe a tired ignition coil) 2. Compression (maybe a new piston/rings) 3. Check the intake boot that connects the carburetor to the engine for any cracks. 4. is the starting rotation strong when cranking? 5. And lastly is the choke working properly?
  3. Have you checked the brake caliper? Sometimes if you leave the brake locked while it sits the piston on the caliper gets stuck and wont retract. If its frozen then I would think its a brake thing if it moves a little and jams then i would look more to the differential. Jack the front up and see if you can rotate the drive shaft to that wheel. It should move a hair in each direction. If so then at least you know its probably not in the differential. It could be as simple as a frozen caliper. If not then take the fill cap off of the differential and see what the fluid looks like and see what the gears look like. And welcome to Quadcrazy btw!
  4. Popped in the new stator since i had a little time today and stripped the old gasket remnants off (that never gets old) lol. So i decided to do a thorough inspection on the old one. I pulled the plastic sleeve off of the wires because i felt a lump inside the sleeve and..... someone was in there! Wires were taped under the sleeve and found three but splices. I also found a part of the insulation that was damaged where the retainer strap holds the stator wires in place in the cover. Whoever spliced the wires put a vinyl sleeve over them and it almost looked factory. Anyway new stator is all good and the cover is clean and ready for reinstall. Waiting for parts is the worst! Check the pics.
  5. I agree and think this may be the problem. All i need now is the flywheel. Should have it in my possession by Wednesday. Keep ya posted!
  6. Thank you @Dra O and yes i have done this. Either way I'm swapping the flywheel and going to close that end out. Hoping i fire it up and we are good. Keep you posted.
  7. Ok so i have the new stator in hand and the flywheel is in transit. Heres my question! Ive researched OEM images of the flywheel and none of them show me the multiple gaps in the magnets like i have. Maybe im crazy but take a look at this and let me know what your input is. I may be wrong but I haven't found any OEM flywheels that show the breaks in the magnets except for the one gap that triggers the coil. Thoughts ?
  8. Man that's scary. Good to hear you didn't get hurt. If the hooks are factory I would think they are strong enough to pull the atv up especially if its in neutral and going up with the winch. I'll tell you this, i load plenty of atvs in the bed of my truck and still to this day get a nervy feeling when doing so. I have a trailer but sometimes need to hop in the truck and go when i find a good deal. Never gets old going up the ramps. I do however strap my ramps so they don't move. But i actually though of installing a winch in the bed of the truck so its there all the time.
  9. Sounds like a solid plan brother. Let us know how the cylinder looks and turns out.
  10. Welcome to Quadcrazy, sounds like a fun trail system to ride! Be sure to post pics.
  11. Yes sir @MarkinAR i have done everything you mentioned including ohming the stator and pick up coil. All within spec, i was hoping that i would get a bad pickup coil but nope. So anyway i will change the flywheel since its open and put all that to rest.
  12. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F113924956219 Not sure of this is yours but the price is right. Maybe run a honer through it or a bore?
  13. Wow that is puzzling but great news. Best thing you did was to crank it slow looking for interference. Some people will hit the starter button and do some damage. Ride safe.
  14. So a flywheel it is then! Found a deal on an RM stator flywheel for $123 new. I have the new stator at the garage. Going to pull the trigger today for the flywheel.
  15. Hahaha as old as yours, thats great. I wonder what they would think about my 2006!!!!! Dinosaur 🦕
  16. Been doing a lot of research on this flywheel and although its seems ok there have been issues! Since i have it open im thinking of just throwing in a new RM flywheel! Thoughts ???
  17. @quadnut20 yes sir, still on it!! Haven't had a lot of time due work so i get an hour or two here and there but yes its a pain in the as* for sure, however this atv is like a good book that will have a crazy ending. I ordered a few parts and that will rule out any internal problems. The flywheel magnets are good and have plenty of power so I'm assuming the flywheel is good. Hoping its the pick up coil and we will be good. I have about 15 hours of time documented so far. Keep you posted.
  18. @markinar i have no idea about anything possibly in the exhaust and its a great point. I will pull the exhaust pipe as soon as i get in and get back to. Good point though. Stator/pick up should be here tomorrow. @Dra O thanks buddy, wish i was posting them under different circumstances but the mystery continues! Maybe saga is a better choice of words lol Thank god for 🍺
  19. I seen that with not posting the year. I'm the last one to go into an engine without checking all the basic non invasive problems first and would continue to do so. Use this as a last resort if he gets nowhere with the other stuff. But if it is this problem and one of the magnets comes out.... oh boy. Also pulling that cover off is not so bad anyway.
  20. Welcome to Quadcrazy @Rick Robinson its a pain in the as* but I would check your flywheel. There have been problems with the magnets coming loose and spinning inside the flywheel. The epoxy that holds the magnets fails and they slide out of position causing the symptoms your having.
  21. Probably a good idea, maybe they can shed some light on this.
