Aftermarket carburetors never work well unless they are a very aftermarket manufacturer and that price would compare to the oem carb price. Take a look at this post and maybe it will help you out. Keep in mind that your float needle has a rubber tip on it that closes off the fuel when the float rises. It gets worn. Could be as simple as that.

    Wow that's some crack. Could just be a blown bevel gear or pinion gear. Is that a separate cover or is it the case?

    @Hondasher welcome to Quadcrazy. Sounds like you have an ambitious project on your hands. Can you post a few more pictures of that area of the plug? I will check the wiring when i get a minute but before you get into all that the fact that the drive train is unbolted is where i would start first. Either it was blown and someone was going to pull it out for repair OR someone needed it and never get it off the atv. I would proceed with caution at first and check the big stuff out first.

    I am always a fan of @MarkinAR but there is now way in hell i would have all that apart and not put a new piston and rings in. Although Mark is right about trying to find an oem piston however Wiseco makes a great quality piston that should last a long time.

    You can buy it and give it a shot, maybe blow a fuse, thats it. If it does not work then worst case scenario i would clip the plug off and just use but splices and connect it the way it matches. I would not start soldering.

    Always a good sign to see the carburetor like that. And good point on the snorkel, unless you have scuba gear!

    Looks good. I see the oem head lights have been replaced with aftermarket led and the fender flares are gone. The snorkel looks good and everything else looks in tact but it was definitely in the hands of someone who was able to work on a quad or at least tried.

    I would buy a cheap cylinder honer and hook it up to a drill and run it up and down the cylinder for a quick second. Add a new piston and rings and you should be good to go.

    Checking stator to see if the coils are good. Yes, pulse/trigger coil testing to see if within range. Yes oil needs to be drained.

    I bought and installed new jets stamped with the numbers on them. They are what matches the spec exactly.

    Absolutely!!! Nice trailer, its so much easier in the mind as well. Knowing you have the proper room and nothings going to go flying off!

    So who's pulling for who in this years Super Bowl?? Im a big fan of Andy Reed and Kansas City (But loyal to my NY Giants) hope he finally gets his ring. He's a great coach but has had a hard time closing the deal! Maybe he gets it done! Good luck to all the pool people!!! I have 11 boxes and never hit on a Super Bowl box so im not expecting anything good to come again but always hopeful. Thoughts ????

    Hey @Ajmboy thanks. So here's an update on tis PITA! CDI was a complete failure and it did not do the trick. Valve lash was good, timing spot on. Carburetor is perfect and she runs great to half throttle and starts backfiring like hell. Regulator is on the way, i am stalking the stator, pick up and flywheel! Just about gone over everything else. Stay tuned. I was actually going to search the archives to see if anyone else had this problem.
