  1. Ok I hear ya. Let us know how it goes. As far as the neutral safety switch it’s not bad to do.
  2. Welcome to Quadcrazy! Have you checked Kelly blue book on atv values to see where your at with what a atv your looking at is with ? Every state is different. https://www.kbb.com/motorcycles/4-wheel-atv/ Now for the performance concerns my feelings are the Polaris although it’s a little older is still a great bike. Very reliable and hold value. I think that price is a little out of line but not bad. But your looking at a much newer bike for about $400 more. Well worth it. Most of the newer bikes have fuel injection, better suspension and overall newer features. The only thing with the Polaris is the due to the year although a solid bike if you hold on to it for a while and have no intention of passing it down and want to sell it the year will be the haggling point as it’s your concern right now (the year) think about the next guy lol. Either way I think you can’t go wrong as far as getting a solid bike. I would go with the newer bike (just my preference)
  3. Ya nut job! Listen I would pay $100 for a used oem carb over a new Chinese carb any day. As long as it’s not cracked or stripped then it’s basically fine. $60 bucks worth of parts and it’s like new. I have my son rebuild them now for practice and try to hold on to them due to the bikes I buy that may be in need of a carburetor. I have a hell of a collection of cdi boxes as well. I hate to sell that sh** just because the min I do I will need one. I would also rather give one of my parts to a Quadcrazy member in need rather then sell it.
  4. Everything else sell. The the carburetor I would keep. Your going to to come across the bayous from time to time. Very popular and great money on flips. One will need a carburetor! That carburetor if it were me I would buy a rebuild kit and rebuild it. Even on eBay in great condition it’s a $100 item. But it’s better to have that on hand.
  5. Take your time with that adjustment. You will get it.
  6. Well done! Now you have to take that $800 and pick up another bike for $500 and have $300 set aside for a few repairs/cosmetics and sell it again for more $$$$
  7. That’s great glad to help. What parts are you going to order? That reverse cam was bad not my switch. But I lightly sanded that switch while I replaced that reverse cam just to clean up the contacts. The neutral safety topic will help you out. Maybe @Admin can help combine all your topics to one so it’s essier to respond and keep one topic going. Btw that part was $12 bucks oem on eBay. Gasket kit entire kit amazon $38. Might as well get the whole kit. Never know
  8. Most of these bikes have a reverse switch on the shifter side of the engine. You should find two wires that come out of the engine near the shifter. One is usually a neutral safety switch that indicates the bike is in neutral and is clear to start. The other is a reverse light wire that shows you on the dash that the bike is in reverse like @06kfx440 mentioned. When you put the bike in reverse that switch is grounding the reverse light and makes it come on. So in theory all you would have to do is wire a reverse light as so, positive wire connected to the battery with an in-line fuse (must have for protection) and then attach the ground wire from the light to that reverse light wire coming from your neutral safety/reverse light switch. Of course you would have to look at your bike to make sure it works the way I’m stating or your manual to show what wire to connect to but a tester can do that for you also. But each manufacturer is different but mostly all of them use the grounding type system. I agree with @06kfx440 about tapping your dash light but most of those indicator lights are super low amperage and may not carry the load of another light on the line.
  9. Is it possable that something got back into the carb after you cleaned it?
  10. It’s a carb adjustment most likely. Unless the smoke is blueish? Then it would be burning oil. If not then it’s just a matter of dialing the carburetor in. Try adjusting the needle on the main jet if needed but I would think it’s more of an air fuel adjustment. Be sure the choke is opening and closing properly. If it’s not opening all the way the carb will act up.
  11. Hey @orvilleortiz538 sounds like your having some fun. It’s very rewarding when you put some work in and get a good result. Keep us posted and post some pics! Good luck and ride safe!
  12. You will be fine. Just don’t get frustrated. The manuals are all there, just take your time and you will figure it out. Ask as many questions as you like. There are a lot of members here to help you out.
  13. I guess @bradleyheathhays maybe realized it was an atv forum ?
  14. That’s what I was going to recommend moving the main jet needle.
  15. @ronwv48 take a look at this post it will help you along.
  16. Red this thread if it’s the switch or the cam itself like on my bike. The spring loaded contact on the reverse cam itself was what was bad butvthis thread will walk you through it all.
  17. Yes that’s the reverse lock out lever. I was wondering if you re installed the lock out properly ? And yes that’s the shifter and neutral safety switch.
  18. This is a picture of the bayou I just worked on. The part that has the arrow has a notch that allows the shifter to go into reverse when you pull the reverse spring lever. Did that get messed with during your repair ?
  19. Are you sure you put everything back correct ? The shifter has a reverse cam. Have you reinstalled that correctly? It’s a lever that’s got a notch in it on the same side under the same cover.
