  1. You are very lucky. Honestly I would get a new (used) cover and clutch and move this thing along to the next person. This thing has been a pain in the as*. You dodged a bullet!
  2. My guess is that the power going to the relay is either not getting the proper voltage to hold it closed. Or it’s have a pulsing voltage that’s allowing the relay to not fully close. lastly I would check the ground and make sure it’s tight. Either condition will allow the contacts inside the relay to arc when they spot fully close and destroy the contacts hence a bad relay. So start by checkout voltages first and move on to grounds etc.
  3. Hey @Sonders welcome back! Hate when things are hectic and hold us back form tinkering and fixing but it is what it is! Glad to hear your going to get after it again! That plug your referencing is usually used where someone either has stripped the oil plug and used a repair kit. I’m hoping your right but be careful when dealing with it. As far as the oil being black it happens even if it’s fresh oil in the engine, when you drain the old oil out you still have remaining dirty oil in the case. That dirty oil stains the new oil so don’t worry about that too much. Hopefully everything will work out and your machine will be up and running in no time. Keep us posted.
  4. It could be a ground issue or a corroded fuse. I would go get some dielectric grease and start taking plugs and fuses apart, clean all areas and apply the grease and reconnect. Some plugs may be tough to get to since they are located under the front plastic right where that cluster is located so you may have to pull that plastic off.
  5. Hey Colin welcome to Quadcrazy. Definitely pics always help so have at it. Is there a name on the carburetor? Mukuni or Kehien?
  6. Hey Barry, welcome to Quadcrazy! The cluster on the dash should have nothing to do with the high/low beams. If the cluster is working properly aside from the illuminating portion then there may be a problem internally with the cluster. I would move some wires around going into the cluster and see if it comes on like a loose connection. I am not 100% sure but my guess would be if the cluster has power and shows the diagnostic portion (mph/rpm) of the atv and the illumination portion should work as well.
  7. Good luck. Hopefully it will work the same on the atv.
  8. That’s a great idea having that extra nozzle and a place to put it no less so it does not get lost.
  9. Holy crap. The the engine come to an abrupt stop or back fire at all ?
  10. Ok I was curious what that small brass nut was for on the end of the wand. Usually its there to siphon a liquid into the wand I thought.
  11. Ok, I was just curious. I’m not sold on that stator being bad but go with it and see how it goes. Meantime I would continue with all other tests just to rule out any other failures. Go through everything else so it’s all wrapped up and it’s just a matter of putting the stator in. I’m particularly curious on the regulator tests.
  12. 16’ wow your going to have plenty of room with that! Might as well mount a bbq and cooler to it.
  13. Check each wire from the stator to the ground as well ,with the tester in between. See if it ohms out (continuity) Just curious if any of the three wires is shorted. I have had good luck with caltric so far.
  14. Should be a 10 mm wrench. Not a socket.
  15. Not 100% sure yet. I was supposed to go up this weekend but due to the rain I held off. Are you going to have a new machine or bringing the 06?
  16. There is an adjuster for the valves. All you would need is a set of feeler gauges.
  17. Nice mike. Do you u spray on the cleaner by spray bottle or does it attach to the sprayer?
  18. That’s good. Can’t wait to see it brother. U know we’re hitting the trials as soon as u get it set up.
  19. Wow that’s great you were able to get it back! So are you going add that in as a trade in or hold onto it ?
  20. That white should go to the ignition, regulator and an aux set of wires. Check that the cdi is getting power also. I believe the cdi power wire is yellow/red. Ok brother got to hit the hey. Keep at it, check in tomorrow.
  21. Absolutely just take your time and don’t make any decisions on my advice. Check a few others out, my take is you know what bike is for you when you sit on it and it just feels right. Good luck brother can’t wait to see what you get and hit the trails wit ya. 👍🏻
  22. Ok brother. Good luck and let us know how it works out. Feel free to ask any questions.
  23. When you press the start button you should have 12v on the black wire plugged into the start relay there is a black and black and yellow stripe wire. You also have a white wire coming from the battery that goes to the ignition switch and comes out brown. From there it spreads out and goes to the regulator, and a few other places.
