  1. I have ridden that Polaris 450 HO and it’s a beast, powerful and the independent suspension is awesome.
  2. Ok so here are some important diagrams. I’ve highlighted some stuff you need to look at. What I like to do is print out the main diagram and highlight all the wires with a ruler and different colors so it’s easier to absorb and see where each wire is going. So study it for a while and get acclimated to the system. Any questions, ask away. Start with the testing on the parts first to rule out any bad parts INCLUDING the regulator and only use a test light on the regulator test portion. Everything else you can use a meter. Make sure you have the 12v on the white wire coming off the battery and the start relay has power. Ask as many questions as you need and if you get frustrated walk away for a little while and go have a beer 🍺. Go back at it again later with a clear head.
  3. Ok so I was wrong on the start circuit relay, it’s two blacks one brown and one light green.
  4. Listen, no matter what your capabilities are it’s not rocket science. We have helped so many people that haven’t been able to start a lawnmower and now they are able to do all sorts of things. It’s a matter of isolating the problem. Under the seat you will find two relays. One has two bigger wires on it, one from the battery and one goes to the starter. there is also a smaller plug on that relay and it sends power to the cdi and everything else. That’s the start relay, it has a rubber boot around it and a fuse buried in there. Check that and then start testing each wire for 12 v. The second relay is located in the same place and is round, aluminum and has four wires going to it. Green, white and two black if I can remember. That’s the “starter Circuit” relay. That’s coming from the neutral safety switch that’s located in the engine cover left side by the shifter. It’s a green and red wire that goes into the engine. All that does is allow the starter circuit to work because the neutral safety switch tells it that the bike is in neutral. So if you have the dash/neutral lights on then that relay should be fine. So turn the key on and go to the starter relay and check the fuse and have a tester ready. I’m going to pull the wire diagram and see if we can do some testing and isolate the problem.
  5. Good stuff @Rich1028! That map at the end looks like a treasure map with that hand written cross 👍🏻 Maybe time for a bigger trailer or do an over under with some welding.
  6. When the power is turned on does the neutral light come on when in neutral ?
  7. For that price new would be tough but !! 2019 Polaris 450 H.O ! Has everything your looking for and the MSRP out of the dealer $6250. Most likely can get it down to $5900. Used with $6k you can do a lot as well with a few different brands and it will be in mint condition!
  8. I don’t know if that’s the case, could be but you would have a lot of black smoke from the exhaust? Make sure your not running a hot plug and make any adjustments you think on the carb if you know where to set it and give it a shot. If not look for the usual suspects like the thermostat and water pump. Check the coolant etc.
  9. It may not have anything to do with a stator or any other coil for that matter. Could be. A short someplace that’s causing this to happen. Check the kill switch for water, a worn harness that’s rubbing against the frame allowing a conductor to Loose it’s outer vinyl and hit the frame, bad or intermittent ignition switch? If you still feel it is a coil then maybe check the secondary coil ? Could be getting hot and breaking down. The pick up coil was replaced with the stator I’m assuming since they are bundled. Your tests included each phase (wires coming from stator) each wire one at a time to ground for continuity? And phase to phase was in spec ?
  10. Hahaha that’s great ! Funny stuff. Ok so I’m sticking w my simple green since it seems to be the cleaner of choice. I like the sprayer idea on the hose.
  11. If he’s got one he will let me know. He’s a bit of an air head so I have to stay on top of him. as far as the other goes I’m not sure what the workings of it is. If it’s a direct wire up or by gps. Some of them come with a sensor that’s picked up by gps. I will be in touch.
  12. Wow that sucks!!! Check eBay you might get lucky. Do you have any idea how the water got inside ?
  13. Hey brother sorry I did see this the other day and got side tracked. So I looked around and yes it’s a pricey item. Used they are $100 plus. New $250, however there is a cheaper aftermarket is a universal one that fits the 500 sportsman. I found one on eBay. I asked a friend in PA that has a junk yard for atv’s especially Polaris bikes. He’s going to take a look. Take a look at eBay and use a few different keywords used, aftermarket etc I double checked the years that the part number is the same and it’s from 99 -01 so you have three years of used bikes to try and locate If you can post a pic of yours especially if you have it removed I would like to see the front and back. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F113185920700
  14. Patience is not my strong point ! Lol, Veterans Day is coming ! Maybe a sale ?
  15. Ha we just heard his story from another member who had a similar problem. Turns out that when he was rebuilding the top end he put the coolant hoses on and reversed them by mistake. I don’t know if you or anyone else worked on the atv but look there first.
  16. It’s a good point @Steven Turner but fortunately it was the compression release. CV carbs must be properly cleaned including the vacuum ports so def a good point.
  17. Hey @Ajmboy and @06kfx440 I’m thinking of picking up a small pressure washer like that. Quick easy set up ? I love my gas washer but I need quick and easy for this type of stuff. So worth it and easy set up ?
  18. I seen the one you posted and the price was good as well. I grabbed the behr one that dries in 60 min and it had a built in stain. It’s also oil based. I was planning on going up yesterday so I needed something that dried fast. Plans changed after I seen the weather but I think I made the right choice based on the way it came out. I also went to my local hardware store and they told me the same thing about Thompson’s. I wonder what the real story is and I bet your right @Ajmboy it’s a bunch of bs.
  19. Absolutely have them fix it. But print out some of the recall and problems posted on line and bring that with you. If you touch the wiring they will void your warranty.
  20. Can’t see the video. I did a quick search on that problem and the remedy seems to be a replacement plug/harness. Looks like the injector plug and about 10 inches of wire that comes with a splice kit. Sound right to you?
  21. Wow that’s some great pics and cool machines. That check engine light is on the same Polaris? No code comes up. Or is that the code ?
  22. That sucks!! It’s a bi*** when them trees jump out in front of you! Hope he’s ok. Well if it’s a constant thing then the dealer should feel and be able to address it. How was the trip to Wisconsin, trails good ?
