  1. would make sure of the year before ordering parts, but ebay and amazon are gonna be your friends for finding parts. make sure to check your timing and head/valves for any bends, cracks, or any other type of faults as well as scaring on the cylinder. also dont forget to get a top end gasket kit. also get a cylinder honer and hone your cylinder to ensure the rings seat properly and dont loose compression
  2. what accessories are you looking for? i build atvs and if you live close to Christiansburg VA, i could put on a lift for you and any accessories.. if youre looking to do it yourself, i would look online for the lift and whatever else youre looking for.
  3. whats wrong with your old harness? it may be tricky to find parts for these off brand atvs
  4. i would definitely find a wiring diagram to help troubleshoot if i were you and if they have a wiring diagram? do the plugs fit each other just the wires are different colors or is it a whole different stater? i know its super hard to find parts for those off brand quads sometimes..
  5. does this model have a the trans separated from the motor or all one unit? also can you take some pictures and share them?
  6. not familiar with honda. hope @Frank Angeranochimes in on this one.. all i could say is look around good for a connection thats loose..
  7. i would look in the manual for the wiring diagram- you should be able to find it on this forum and not sure what you mean about the gauge?
  8. check that the output from your stater is to spec and that its not faulty
  9. are there wires running to your throttle box on the handlebars? if not i wouldnt think it has a rev limiter. there has to be a sensor somewhere to cut the spark out for it to limit the immediate rpm jump. i guess it could be in the throttle body but ive never heard of one located there.
  10. i had an 01 yamaha warrior that i just sold.. not a wiz on wiring- im gonna leave this one to @Frank Angerano
  11. i just googled windshields and got plenty of results. ive never wanted a windshield on my atv personally so im not sure what youre looking for in one but i guess i would just get one that i liked the look of and had good reviews.
  12. im pretty sure no antifreeze is supposed to be running through your carburetor
  13. not sure what to tell you here as ive never bought plastics for an atv.. if youre just fixing this bike to sell, i would sand them down, shine them up and send it on its way..but if they are too far gone and its not just surface fade, then i would keep an eye on ebay, craigslist, and fb marketplace for your fenders or an atv for parts thats your model
  14. im more familiar with polaris atvs but canam is similar i assume. qsc clutch kits are good ive heard.. not familiar with any other brands except billet clutches- thats what im running on my sportsman 570 with 32.5 outlaw 2s. i also use 'low' when im crawling or bogging for the sake of my belt. i would look up qsc clutch kits and see if they make a kit for your model atv and size tire you want to run. now if youre looking to run two different sizes of tires different times of the year i would clutch the atv for the smaller set and use low gear more often with the larger set.
  15. i use a big set of channel locks and twist the shock adjustment colors. as for the setting- whatever suits you best👍 you can also use the proper adjustment tool but i didnt feel like paying for one lol
  16. the main thing is to make sure the tie rods are the same length and the tie rod end bolts are the same diameter. you might be able to order a tie rod and use just the tie rod end off the new one if the sleeve is too long or short for your quad. just make sure your looking at the same diameter threads for everything
  17. hey have you got this figured out yet? if not, youre trying not to put holes in your storage box and loose the use of it right? i found this yt vid to be helpful. pretty cool settup too
  18. tbh im really not a fan of recons. have a buddy that has an 08 recon and has had nothing but trouble from day one that he got it. however, thats just my experience. i bet theres really great recons out there.. just not a fan personally. i looked up videos of how to check/set the timing on a recon and cant find any vids online.. also looked up pics of honda recon motors and i believe there is a alan key plug on the left rear side of your crankcase that should view the fly wheel.(on the opposite side of the cover from the oil fill plug) i realize that pic is from a newer model but i believe its the place on yours
  19. im not familiar with honda. owned an old 86 model trx 350 but not a quad with a longitudinal motor
  20. sounds to me you did everything right, but then the motor jumped time on you. i would definitely check timing and if your chain is stretched you might want to replace it. also check that your chain tensioner is functioning and keeping the chain snug
  21. ..also very likely. did your motor ever make any weird noises? ticking or knocking and the like?
  22. so engines need spark, gas, air, and compression to run. if you can eliminate these as possibilities one at a time, you will definitely find your issue. always start by taking a step back and thinking about what all engines need general. this will help you not to pull your hair out and be able to logically go about the process of elimination like@Frank Angerano said spark is the easiest to check. (an inline spark tester will do the trick as@Frank Angerano also said) gas is tricky as theres a lot more factors to cover. check things in order as you "follow the gas" from the point of entry into the tank all the way to the motors top end. (check that the breather line on the top of your tank is not plugged causing a vacuum, check the fuel valve, drain all your gas lines and blow through them to ensure they are not clogged, check your fuel pump for clogs. i had an 04 sportsman 500 that got a clog in the fuel pump and wouldn't run right. then check the carb as @Frank Angerano said) air is fairly simple check that there are no clogs before the carb, and no leaks between the carb and the motor. (check that your air filter is clean, properly attached to the duct and that the duct is attached to the carb. then it looks as if you've already ruled out the duct from the carb to the motor..but check it as @Frank Angerano mentioned) also, what elevation are you at? if youre up in the mountains, then your atv will need more air than normal to run or else it will run rich (bogs on acceleration or under load) compression. sometimes low compression will let your atv run but doesnt have the power to pull a load. (a compression tester can be found at your local auto parts store and is usually fairly cheap) also when did this issue start happening? just one morning you cranked it up and boom, its not running right? or did it come on slowly?
  23. im in agreement with@MarkinAR. the valves shouldn't wiggle at all with or without the seals. if that is the case, your head may be shot😥. dont know it theres a way to fix this? maybe jb weld? i say its worth a shot.. but then again, i try stupid stuff like that with my stuff- dont expect it to work lol. heads arnt cheap tho- thats gonna suck if the head is worn where the valves run through it.
