If you are stationary and turn it all the way to the right or left and the engine dies, it's probably electrical. If you make a hard left or right leaning turn while moving, might be carb related.

Sounds like a cheap and good project. Great advice from @Frank Angerano and@wanrep! For $100 I would buy it just to mess with it.

I would agree, sounds like the starter is misaligned and getting chewed up.

That's an interesting situation and I'm curious what they come back with. Its sounds like something with the EPS is grounding out or discharging the battery. 2017 sportsmans do have a recall on the EPS units https://www.polaris.com/en-us/recalls/off-road/polaris-recalls-sportsman-due-to-crash-hazard/

I guess it boils down to which one you like to ride more and see yourself riding down the road. I keep thinking my buddy had an xplorer but it was an xpedition. It was a comfortable ride if I recall. I had to go back to the photo to check...lol. Funny pic!

This is an old topic but worth a revival because if you are in the northeast, it's worth checking their prices. I just looked to see what they are charging for a 2019 King Quad 750 and it's like $2400 off MSRP. Can't get one now but will down the road!

Its pretty cool to see how everyone got into ATVs, I'm enjoying following this topic! I met a guy last month who bought his first quad at 55 and wished he bought one sooner. What I love about ATVs and now even Side x Sides is the transitions and growth you can make in the size and type of machine. As a kid with a 90cc quad you can work your way up and then end up going sport or utility ATV 90 - 250 - 400 - 700, etc., something like that. Nowadays if you can afford a newer model, you've got bells and whistles like power steering and other nice comfort features on utility atvs. I recall as a kid wishing I could get that little 60 or 90 series suzuki at the the small dealer in NJ, but we couldn't. Got my first atv used at like 20 years old (I'm 44 now) and that was a yamaha warrior that needed a ton of work. I then bit the bullet and bought a new bayou 220 with 3 friends who did the same..from there it kept going!

I am biased to the 4WD polaris xplorer because I'm not a sports atv kind of guy and I like trail riding with storage and getting stuck kind of riding. How are you going to make money? Plowing?

On page 38 of the owners manual ...says to pull the latch at the rear left of the seat.

Were there any indicators, lights or anything when it started to overheat? Did the fan come on? Kind of odd for a 2018 to blow a head gasket so soon. Shouldn't it be under warranty?

Are you looking at some online that are used? Whenever a question like this comes up, it's difficult to answer unless you have someone who has gone through the same thing. I usually suggest you look at parts manuals or OEM arctic cat websites and start comparing part numbers for various models and years to see if they match.

Might just feel like that because its new. Does it go down at all when you sit on it?
