  3. yes it is normal they get hot ... but not scalding hot ...
  4. you could probably get a new cdi off ebay for a reasonable price, and if the pot is cleaned and refilled, you are probably ok given the fact that everything moves well inside ,,, just my 2 cents. you could sell it for more running than parting it out and dont have to keep everything around until it sells ...

  16. if its like my 91 big bear, a red and white wire comes off the pick up coil. you may have to go red to white and white to red at the connector (with aftermarket) ...
  17. you could try replacing the pick up coil only first if you can get it cheap without the stator first, usually they do sell separate ... you only have one pick up coil there ...
  18. i would look for a new stator. does yours have two pick up coils? i see that some early warriors have two pick up coils. you shouldnt have a problem getting an aftermarket, and generally they will be better than OEM.
  19. "You can do an OHMS reading on your stator and pick-up if you have a mulit-meter/ OHMS meter. Make sure your meter is set at the 2K setting. Brown to Green wire should read 275 ohms (source coil) Red to White wire should read 325-350 ohms (pick up coil) and between phases (white wires) should be 0-10 ohms" this comes from Ricky Stator ....
  20. there is, you need an ohm meter. there are a few videos on youtube that are quite good and if you google "testing an atv" or "testing a yamaha stator"
  21. more than likely its just the stator ...
  22. sounds like the carb is dirty and/or maybe the valves need to be checked again ...
