  1. I hunt all the time on my TRX 500R, I hunt 4-strokes.
  2. Welcome to the wonderful world of the 2-stroke. You have definately made a move up IMO.
  3. The Raptor has a bigger slower revving engine with a ton of bottom end torque. The 450's are more racy, quick revving motors but not as much torque as the big Raptor. It is less work riding a Raptor because you don't have to worry as much about gear selection because it has so much torque. The 450's need to be kept in the right part of the power curve in order to be fast. Personally, I like the higher strung, quicker revving motors for balls-out riding, I think they are alot more fun. That's why I ride a 2-stroke, but if I were ever to buy a 4-stroke, it would be a 450, because they are snappier than the bigger bikes.
  4. Yamaha Banshee, Suzuki Quad Racers ( 250 and 500), Honda TRX 250R, Kawasaki Tecate 4, all fine machines. Personally, I like the Honda 250R, it is the best handling machine of the group. The banshee is also a great choice, it is not the best handling quad, but it easily has the most power potential of any quad ever made, 2-stroke or 4.
  5. I have used the Krylon fusion and it works ok until you ride it. Still scratches easily, and then it looks like crap. Especially if your plastic color differs alot from the paint color.
  6. Welcome and nice quad, I was thinking about getting some 450R plastics like that for my 500R.
  7. Of those 4 I like the Yamaha the best, then the Suzuki, the Kawi then the Honda. But I like the KTM better than all of those.
  8. If it pleases Santa, I would like a Yamaha YFZ 450 with a Banshee motor stuffed in it.
  9. WTF That is just crazy. I wonder if he has to pull start each one of those little suckers.
  10. You bastard, I hope your chain breaks while you are out in the middle of nowhere. That wasn't fair.
  11. The Yamaha Banshee is available in Canada for '08. YAMAHA MOTOR CANADA The only other 2-strokes I know of that are still being produced are dirtbikes. KTM just released an electric start 250cc 2-stroke cross country bike.
  12. If it doesn't just unbolt from the a-arm, I think you need to get a new a-arm. What kind of quad is it? You might want to call a dealer service dept. and ask them if the ball joints are replaceable.
  13. Once you all experience the joys of a 2-stoke, you will never go back to 4, no matter how many mods you add, it's just not the same. Just ask MWKE, I'm sure he will let you know all about it..
  14. At least the trikes still outnuber the Golf carts in there.
  15. 250R or 400EX would be a better bike to use. Would you happen to know if the 300EX hubs will fit on an '88 or '89 250R?, if so, I would be interested in them.

  17. Welcome, I am nowhere near Texas, but if I ever find myself there, I will surely ride with you.
  18. TRX 500R, CR500 motor crammed into a 250R frame.
  19. I have yet to see a factory quad that can even keep up with me, so there.
  20. Do you sill run the stock tires?, if so, do you have any issues with ground clearance?
  21. A friend of mine has a 660 Raptor, his seems to work fine for putting around, although I always feel like I'm putting around when riding a 4-stroke. The power delivery seems smooth and very managable to me, it does like to wheelie alot though, taller gearing would definately help that.
  22. It is the CR500 pipe, I cut it and twisted it to fit in the frame, it seems to work ok. The motor fit pretty easy, I have an '86 motor so it has a 15mm hole in the rear of the case, so it fits on the swingarm bolt. The newer motors have a 17mm hole and would have the hole reamed out enough to put in a 15mm i.d. bushing so that it can mount to the swingarm. Or you can make a bracket and not mount to the swingarm, but you have to keep the sprocket as close to the pivot as possible and keep it lined up with the lenght of the swingarm in order to keep from having chain problems. The 250R a-arms are mounted 25cm(about 9.75") from the inside edge of the rear side of the rear bracket to the inside edge of the front side of the front bracket. The brackets are 5cm(about 2") wide on inside edge to inside edge. You might want to check out this thread cr500 in a 250r frame - E2S There some good pics and info that you may find helpful.
