  1. There are two relays, one is the starter relay and one may be a safety relay like a neutral safety switch that locked out a relay for safety reasons. I am going to stick with my first gut feeling of the starter wire being tapped by another 12v feed someplace.
  2. It very well could be. But I would spray the bolts ahead of time in case you do have to take apart. My guess is it’s a 12v wire that’s tied into the starting circuit wire. If you go through the harness it’s going to stand out. Something that will looked taped in or some funky wire connector that looks out of place I would take that plug off the solonid and test each wire for voltage. See who has what and the one that’s live with 12v I would start following that first along the harness.
  3. Believer it or not I’m so surprised how clean and perfect this bike is. That’s the only reason I’m going after this switch. If this bike was a beat up bike I would not do all this.
  4. Yes one of them will tie into that starter relay. If you have to cut one at a time and re splice it. One of them will knock the starter out. Look at the wires coming from the start button. Also look at the plug coming from the start button at the handle bars. See what color it is. The manual should be in the down load section. If you have trouble finding it or need help figuring it out let me know.
  5. Ugh FML! Thanks brother. I just went back and looked at the pics from wanrep and it shows the engine on some sort of wood bench. Oh well. Wasted my time dropping the rear out I guess.
  6. That red wire coming from the battery goes to a relay and from the relay to the starter? That relay should have another small set of wires coming onto it. Unplug that and see if the starter does the same thing when connected to the battery. If yes then the relay is bad and stuck in the closed position. If not then the three wires must be traced back using the wiring diagram to where they originate from. Either there is voltage being applied to a wire that shouldn’t. And that’s the wire that should come from the start button. One wire gets voltage when you are cranking. (Hitting the start button)
  7. @wanrep so here’s a stupid question. I got some free time today 🤫! The bevel gear case ? The shifter shaft doesn’t come out as well with the cover ? Because the way I’m looking at it now there is no way that case cover can come off with the shifter rod and not hit the frame. Ugh I’m thinking this engine has to be pulled and that sucks! Means I pulled the rear off for no reason I hope. And if so Kawasaki sucks for this design!
  8. Well at least you found this out now then later like you said. There are parts available on eBay for that bike. If its a master cylinder then the Brake handle should have a plunger plate on the lever like the one you posted. I looked up a lot of other brake parts and there is plenty. Post a few pics of your master cylinder if you can
  9. That’s great brother. Glad you found the problem. Think the glue will hold up ?
  10. Wow that’s a relic but a great one at that. You can’t find them in that condition any more unless it’s a barn find. So what’s your plan for it ?
  11. It sounds like it’s a vent problem more then a suction problem. Have you checked all the vent and or vacuum lines?
  12. Thanks @Admin if we get enough responses and nail a date down we will 100% put it on the celandar. Hopefully we get some ppl to commit and get after it!
  13. Great point @Rick Shropshire 👍 I have to admit that’s a first as far as 10 posts within the same post! Lolololol 🤣 some things you can’t fix! 😉
  14. This can be a really good day for those that attend. I’m bringing my two boys with me and maybe the girl if she wants to come.
  15. Hello and happy new year! Hope everyone had a safe and fun holiday season. I’ve been talking with @06kfx440 and thinking about or hoping I should say that any Quadcrazy members in or around the N.Y. area would like to try and spend a day of riding together. @06kfx440 has a place for us to get together where we should be able to meet offload and go riding. Maybe pack a cooler with food and drinks and anything else anyone can think of to bring. It would be cool if some of us could get together and ride for a day have some fun and put a name to a face! Check out everyone’s bikes and shoot the sh**! Nothing crazy and no long drawn out rides where anyone gets lost or disruptive, drunk or stupid. Just some fun trail riding. Any suggestions/input-would be great. Let us know what you think. Maybe April ? @06kfx440made a good point that it’s still cool enough but also not too cool.😎 This goes out to all members that feel like taking the ride and joining us should this come together. #letsdoit
  16. That’s great to know. Awesome find brother. 👍
  17. Wow a lot of new members and owners of some really cool ATV’s !!! Good luck to you all. You will find a lot of help here with any problems you might have as well as some general conversation and pics/videos. Off to a good start for 2019. Ride safe!
  18. Im a big fan of you get what you pay for but where did you find it and any name on it ? looks good.
  19. A couple of things I always bring with me. 1. A small jumper pack to see if the bike cranks and dash lights work. 2. Socket set to pull the plug so you can check compression/spark. 3. Vin# web page stored as a favorite on my phone to verify the year. 4.Always look under the plastics to see that the colors all match and haven’t been changed. 5. I look at the bolts everywhere especially the engine to see if there Is any striping from sockets or wrenches that have been put on the bolts. Kind of an indicator as to if the engine has been taken apart. 6. Color of oil (grey) for water 💦 no good. 7. Tons of tape on the wiring harness like someone has torn through it and re taped. 8. Go through all the gears, weather the bike runs or not. Put it in gear and try to roll bike see how it puts pressure on the engine. 9. Lastly I look for welds on the frame. For repairs to cracks, wrecks etc. All of these things I do very quickly and use the results as a negotiation tool when buying.
  20. So that’s a 350. Originally from New Hampshire. Found it on CL and went to see it in Brewster ny. The guy that I bought it from has property up there and picked it up driving by an estate sale. I Paid $2800 with papers original bill of sale including maintenance records. I sold that Bayou I rebuilt from one of my older posts here. The brown camo one for $1800 and grabbed this. I was into that bike for a total of $750 bike, parts, paint everything! Bought it with a bad cam journal noise for those of you that remeber. Paid $400 running but a slight knock. Picked up a really nice used head for $140 and gaskets etc. Hated to sell it bc it was so tight and ran great. Also fast. But this bike is worth the swap. My oldest loved it.
