2004 Suzuki King Quad LTF300 4WD Clicking Noise
Frank Angerano replied to My kiwi shed's topic in Suzuki ATV Forum
It’s most likely a cv joint on an axle. Easy enough to replace, best way though to be sure is to make a tight turn like a U turn and see if it’s worse. If so then definitely an axle. -
2002 Kawasaki Prairie 400 4x4 Vibration
Frank Angerano replied to Jim Waters's topic in Kawasaki ATV Forum
It sounds like it’s happening when you hit a certain speed? Especially if it’s heard on a blacktop surface. My guess is that one of the drive shafts has a slight bend in it where you wouldn't feel it until a certain rpm. You may not be able to see that bend. I would inspect all the drive shafts for any marks that may be there. Something along the lines of you hitting a rock or tree trunk while you were riding ? I would also get the front wheels off the ground and spin the tires to see if there’s a bend in the rims and wiggle them as well to check the hubs. Do this for the front and rear. -
Nice work, sorry brother been busy with work. Fuel out of the carb sounds like a bad float adjustment or the float is cracked. Keep up with the progress!

👍🏻 Good luck, let us know how you make out.

Ok quick test, each of the three wires coming from the stator. Test each wire one at a time, one wire to the ground on the atv with the tester. So, test lead to one wire and the other test lead to a good ground. If you get a beep or any ohm reading then the stator is shorted. Do that with all three wires one at a time and see what you get. Second test is go from wire to wire and see what reading you get as well. You should get a number reading from wire to wire and they should all be in the same range.

You can do some simple testing on the stator coil of your familiar with an electrical tester ?

It means your engine is getting too much fuel intake. Usually from a stuck choke, dirty carburetor or a bad adjustment on your air fuel mixture screw.

Battery drain while sitting 03 Yamaha Kodiak 450

Nice work @MarkinAR i didn’t even look outside the box on that one and think about a winch relay! Good stuff, hopefully this is the problem. -

Happy to hear. This was a tough one, great job seeing it through! -
Sad to say but the Mojave is on its way to NJ to its new owner. Sold it today to a kid who saved his money to buy an atv. I dropped the price so this kid can have it. I’m happy where it’s going but I was sad to see it leave. Great project!

Clutch slip - ever tried a little more pressure?

Listen man I’m all for that idea so let’s get after it and throw some washers in. Be sure to use thread lock so nothing comes loose! -
Battery drain while sitting 03 Yamaha Kodiak 450
Frank Angerano replied to Dimelol's topic in Yamaha ATV Forum
Welcome to Quadcrazy, what that part is your showing is the starting relay. If you disconnect the battery wire and hear a click then something is staying on that should not be. So what I would do is take a test light and take the positive wire off of the battery. Take the test light and connect the clip on the test light and connect it to then battery terminal. Then take the pointer part of the test light and touch the positive battery wire. With the key OFF you should not see the test light on. If you do then there is what’s called a draw on the battery. Could be a bad relay or an aftermarket part that was added to the atv. -
2007 Polaris Trail Boss 330 Overheating
Frank Angerano replied to Zachary Coombs's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
Lean condition would be from the air fuel mixture screw being set wrong or from a dirty carburetor etc. A hot spark plug is a plug that produces a bigger spark (hotter) spark. Pull the spark plug and look at the color. If it’s a light brown/tan color then that’s good. Black not good, post a pic of the plug. -

Yeah well planning is not always on the forefront with these people. If you go back and look at one of my threads on my Bayou, there was a neutral safety switch. Worst design everrrrrrrrrr! So I could see it on Yam behalf also. -

I didn’t even see this post for some reason. I don’t think it would work since the washer you could only really fit in would be a 16th of an inch think ? How much grab do you think you would gain ? And how long would it last anyways? -
Yes specs are on the download section. If you need a hand let me know. Testing is easy just need a tester with ohms/continuity settings etc.

2007 Polaris Trail Boss 330 Overheating
Frank Angerano replied to Zachary Coombs's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
The only thing I can think of would be oil circulation? Pump is either in bad shape or there is a bunch of muck in the sump where the oil pick up is? Spark plug; double check it’s not a hot plug as well. See what the manual calls for and make sure it matches. -

Have you checked that the oil filter is in properly and not defective with any blockages ? How is the exhaust also, clear ? -

Frank Angerano replied to Zachary Coombs's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
I looked it up and yes it’s an oil cooler and the thermister that bring the fan in. The temp light comes on when the engine gets super hot. Have you checked that oil cooler for cleanliness? If the fan is spinning at a good rpm and the coil is clean then it could be a poor oil pump performance. Also is the engine painted ? That can cause additional heat build up that can trigger this type of thing. -

ATV Issues at higher altitudes
Frank Angerano replied to Chuck Piazza's topic in General ATV Discussion
That is correct. The air is much thinner up there so a slight adjustment on the air fuel screw will most likely be needed. -
Lol that’s great. Good stuff brother.
