  1. Test your spark and not just for a few cranks. See that it’s consistent. If that’s ok check the timing. We hear some of the time people hauling things and you wind up with a jumped timing chain. Other then that I would say to look at the carburetor and fuel delivery system if all else checks out.
  2. Yep sounds like a carburetor cleaning is in order. What relay did you have to jump ? And why ?
  3. What happened when the bike quit? Did it just die, was there a bang ? If that timing chain broke or if the bike jumped timing you could have done a lot more damage then you think. Valves hit the piston and bend or put holes in pistons etc. You won’t know until you open it up. if he improperly adjusted the valves that could have caused some problems as well. If your mechanically capable then you can do the work along with some help from Quadcrazy members and having the manual. Two ways to get a manual, one is to have 10 contributions on the forum. Not just random sh** posts. Or you have a paid membership.
  4. Sorry brother I was working. I would have to look at the repair manual to see exactly what’s going on but my guess is that your going to have to pull the starter out and see if everything is in tact and not broken. If that all checks out good then your starter clutch/bendix is bad. eBay prob would have one.
  5. And when you press the starter the crank does not spin ?
  6. You don’t want to continually crank the starter over and over and for long periods of time. I would pull the starter out and see what’s going on. It may be a busted shaft or whatever but pull the starter out and see what’s happening.
  7. I agree. The Yausa is my choice.
  8. That’s some nice work! I can’t believe that axle snapped like that. Probably avoided a complete and costly failure with the water and metal in there.
  9. I’ve been using the solder seal connectors. I love them. I’ve posted them here before trying to spread the word on how good they are!
  10. Well it’s a good manual for maintenance. Not repairs. Any luck with pulling the clutch cover or getting into the starter issue?
  11. Hope it works out brother. Good luck.
  12. Lol take a deep breath. There is an answer and it’s just going to be a process of elimination. You have to go over things again to be sure. I know it sounds repetitive but it’s worth it. What did you set the air fuel screw at ? Check that the choke is working and opening and closing properly and not getting drawn closed as you rev the engine. Look through the wire harness to see if any rubbing against the frame is happening where wires are intermittently hitting the frame, take the plugs apart on the harness and add dialectical grease on the plugs and put back together.
  13. Ok brother, keep us posted. Good luck.

  15. I would do a compression test. See where your at for starters. Maybe a leaking head gasket, rings etc. Second I would check the intake boot that connects the carb to the engine for cracks. Then look at the quality of the spark and make sure it’s strong and that it’s not breaking down after it gets warm. And just a dumb question, have you checked the fuel that it’s not bad and you have a good flow going to the carburetor?
  16. Nice work! Have you tried to fire it up ?
  17. Welcome to Quadcrazy, great looking bike. Enjoy it and ride safe brother.
  18. Your welcome and nice work. Thanks to Quadcrazy we can all help each other.
  19. So when you get back to work on the bike you can test a few things. 1. Bump the starter button and see if that gear coming from the starter spins. If so then you may have just lost the keyway that holds the flywheel and starter gear on the shaft or the nut came loose holding the flywheel. Not likely but possibly. 2. That break lever your referring to when you say you need it to start the bike has a pin that’s sticking up to lock the brake. The reason you thought it was a clutch I’m assuming is because you cant start the bike without pulling it in. That’s just a safety in place so god forbid the throttle got stuck and the bike started it would take off. This brake safety stops that from happening. The side cover with the clutch inside can be taken off and inspected and we will help you walk through the process. Just take care of the starter problem first.
  20. Very good point about the in-line fuse!
  21. Have you checked the fuel flow from the tank ? Sometimes the petcock has a screen or a blockage that does not allow the fuel to flow freely. Also the air/fuel screw, was it put back in properly? I’ve seen people put the washer in before the o ring etc. So be sure it’s back in the right way. Second is the bowl and fill pin working and set correctly. It might be set to low and closes off fuel to the carburetor prematurely. Lastly I always recommend sending in a small piece of wire through the ports on the carb. Sometimes air just isn’t enough to clear out a tiny hole like that and the final adjustment. Air fuel adjustment set point? What did you set it at and have you tried to adjust it while the bikes running?
  22. That’s the cover you want to pull if you want to see what’s going on with the clutch.
  23. So based on the pics it looks like something was taken off of the shaft in the pic? Is that correct. On the other side of the engine, is there a cover that’s much different ? the clutch assembly is generally bigger and it’s a larger size cover. Like I said I’m not familiar with that engine but the premise is pretty much the same as other engines. I’m just wondering if you have taken anything off. Is that the left side of the engine your showing ?
  24. What came off of that shaft ? Post a few more pics of the engine maybe from a little further out. It’s hard to make out where your taking the pic from.
  25. Look at the red bar on the post above yours. Click on it and It will explain. You have to have 10 plus active contributions on the forum before you can access the manual for download.
