  1. I would NOT remove the carb and try sending fuel into the engine. I know you tested spark but I would pull the plug out and rest it against the head. Turn the fuel off and crank the engine watching the spark for about 5 seconds and see if it’s consistent. Make sure there is no difference in the rhythm of the spark while cranking. For instance, you see spark for a few cranks and it goes away and comes back is what I mean. It should be steady. Then I would go back to the timing and triple check that’s its good. Find the T mark. Like @06kfx440 said go through the carburetor and make sure the float is good and all settings including the fuel air screw are set properly. The main jet needle setting “the E clip” what’s it set at ? Fuel pump, (if fuel injected) make sure its good and not pushing too much fuel into the engine. Make sure the boot that connects the carb to the engine is good and no cracks. Make sure your fuel is not bad. Is the choke working correctly and the air intake clear of any nests or obstructions? Been nests rodents etc. check your voltage at the battery when cranking. Could be a bad regulator. Go through these things and get back. Take your time and make sure your good.
  2. Hey Brian welcome to Quadcrazy. You really shouldn’t put your email on the forum. It’s sounds like your having some wiring issues. Do the wires your referring to have any stripes on them or are they definitely solid colors? Does it look like anything else is missing like a relay or any plugs?
  3. It’s going to have to come apart obviously and you really need to look at the repair manual. But you can pull that nut off of that shaft and the starter clutch will come off. Once you get it off see how the middle part of the starter clutch spins. It should only spin one way if is free spins both ways it’s no good and most likely the problem. You can find one on eBay I’m sure for about $30 bucks. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F142528436451 I definitely would recommend finding a repair manual.
  4. There’s a backslash ? Most vin numbers are 17 -18 digits long I’ve never seen a backslash in one.
  5. Try these solder seal connectors. I use them all the time and like them. All you need is a heat source. Heat gun, small propane torch or a hair dryer on hot setting and up close. 120PCS Solder Seal Wire Connectors - Ndgenous Solder Seal - Electrical Wire Soldering - Waterproof Insulated Butt Splice Connectors for Electrical, Automotive, Marine, Boat, Truck & Trailer Wiring https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07M6ZWHH6/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_TnAcDb0YAYQMS
  6. You are 100% correct. That red wire comes from the regulator and splits to the ignition and the battery. And yes it’s a 15 amp fuse located at the battery.
  7. That’s good news it’s just a replacement part and not a wiring problem. Nice work, ride safe!
  8. If it’s kicking back like that I would say the timing is off and either the chain has snapped or is stretched resulting in a bad timing situation. I hope there is no major damage brother. Good luck.
  9. Test your spark and not just for a few cranks. See that it’s consistent. If that’s ok check the timing. We hear some of the time people hauling things and you wind up with a jumped timing chain. Other then that I would say to look at the carburetor and fuel delivery system if all else checks out.
  10. Yep sounds like a carburetor cleaning is in order. What relay did you have to jump ? And why ?
  11. What happened when the bike quit? Did it just die, was there a bang ? If that timing chain broke or if the bike jumped timing you could have done a lot more damage then you think. Valves hit the piston and bend or put holes in pistons etc. You won’t know until you open it up. if he improperly adjusted the valves that could have caused some problems as well. If your mechanically capable then you can do the work along with some help from Quadcrazy members and having the manual. Two ways to get a manual, one is to have 10 contributions on the forum. Not just random sh** posts. Or you have a paid membership.
  12. Sorry brother I was working. I would have to look at the repair manual to see exactly what’s going on but my guess is that your going to have to pull the starter out and see if everything is in tact and not broken. If that all checks out good then your starter clutch/bendix is bad. eBay prob would have one.
  13. You don’t want to continually crank the starter over and over and for long periods of time. I would pull the starter out and see what’s going on. It may be a busted shaft or whatever but pull the starter out and see what’s happening.
  14. That’s some nice work! I can’t believe that axle snapped like that. Probably avoided a complete and costly failure with the water and metal in there.
  15. I’ve been using the solder seal connectors. I love them. I’ve posted them here before trying to spread the word on how good they are!
  16. Well it’s a good manual for maintenance. Not repairs. Any luck with pulling the clutch cover or getting into the starter issue?
  17. Hope it works out brother. Good luck.
  18. Lol take a deep breath. There is an answer and it’s just going to be a process of elimination. You have to go over things again to be sure. I know it sounds repetitive but it’s worth it. What did you set the air fuel screw at ? Check that the choke is working and opening and closing properly and not getting drawn closed as you rev the engine. Look through the wire harness to see if any rubbing against the frame is happening where wires are intermittently hitting the frame, take the plugs apart on the harness and add dialectical grease on the plugs and put back together.

  20. I would do a compression test. See where your at for starters. Maybe a leaking head gasket, rings etc. Second I would check the intake boot that connects the carb to the engine for cracks. Then look at the quality of the spark and make sure it’s strong and that it’s not breaking down after it gets warm. And just a dumb question, have you checked the fuel that it’s not bad and you have a good flow going to the carburetor?
  21. Nice work! Have you tried to fire it up ?
  22. Welcome to Quadcrazy, great looking bike. Enjoy it and ride safe brother.
