  1. Have you checked the air intake ? Seems starved for air ? Or the choke is not stuck closed ?
  2. It’s just a vent hose that should wrap up and around the rear of the gas tank. 3 turns out seems a little bit much. I was thinking about 2-1/2 to 2-3/4 at most.
  3. I’m sure it has to do with some dumb law but hey at least they make it so you can drill it out. Good luck brother and ride safe.
  4. What’s the year ? If that tank is in solid condition structurally then I would make up a tip for your compressor with maybe a 16 inch long piece of flexible copper tube and pinch the tip a little for better pressure. Angle the copper as needed to get inside. Stick it in the tank and blow the sh** out of it. Hit all sides and the bottom and creases as best possible. Then fill it half way with boiling hot water, add Dawn kitchen dishwashing soap put the cap on and shake the tank good. Spill it out and rinse it all out good with a hose. Blow it out again to get the rest of the junk and water out. Then hit it with a hair dryer on hot so all the water inside dries up and creates no rust. Spray the inside all around with WD 40 and let it sit a day. I would put a quarter tank of gasoline in it put the cap on and swish it around and dump it into a clean bucket and see if you get any more flakes or dirt.
  5. From an oil change ? I’m not so sure about that but I guess you know your bike better than me. Glad the bike ran good.
  6. Looks like a good clay surface to run on. The bike sounds like it’s ruining good and had some nice speed. Any issues with the bikes?
  7. Good work kiddo. Have you tried to fire it up yet with the timing correction?
  8. Somethings up w the carb I would assume. What did you set the air fuel screw at? Float setting good ? Main jet needle, the e clip setting ? All put back together right ? You could have fouled the plug also. Lastly I would double check your timing. Im sure you put it back together the right way but it could have jumped with the backfiring. I would start there.
  9. And this happens every year around the first week of June ? I would like to attend the next one.
  10. You should be able to adjust the float yourself. It’s just a matter of pulling the carburetor off and opening the bowl. Pull the float out and adjust the tab up as little n
  11. Have you checked the timing ? You may be getting a kick back and not a back fire. Still odd that it’s breaking the key way but that’s where I would look first.
  12. Most people don’t know that the screw even exists. And then try to tell someone to drill out the carburetor??? Lol we have had this discussion before and there’s so many more times this will probably come up again. It’s like finding a hidden door!
  13. Very nice. Looks like a lot of fun and for a good cause.
  14. Ok so treat it as you would your bike. Figure out the wiring and safety’s and go from there. And yes you can jump right to the starter to make sure the starter and motor turns etc. If so then it’s just process of elimination. The safety switch on the seat may be bad, the ignition switch, fuse, grounds, dirty plugs and connections etc. Usual suspects first and dig deeper if it’s more involved.
  15. Looks sick! Nice work on the light bar. Bike looks ready to roll . Good luck and make sure you stay on the forum with pics and videos of your rides ! Ride safe.
  16. Yes and it worked but !!!! BUT ! I had to reem all the holes out to make it fit. So a good drill bit and you will be good to go.
  17. Your welcome. Be sure to post some progress pics.
  18. I don’t think it’s a must do but I would if it were me. Just to have it fresh.
  19. That’s good but It will work intermittently so be sure it’s good. That spring loaded pin inside the reverse cam gets week over time and it gets lazy and will only work sometimes. It would suck if you did all this work just to have to pull the motor again. One of my recent posts on my bayou I had to change the reverse cam. There were some good progress photos of the old and new reverse cam differences with regard to the spring.
  20. No worries on the pics. Ok well hopefully it’s just a stretched cam chain. Have you by chance ordered the tensioner guides as well? Maybe a good idea while your in there ?
  21. That’s good news. You looked at the back end of the cam and no issues or where the cam sits in the head and the underside of the cover ?
