  1. All bikes that I’ve ever known even street bikes, Harley’s etc are like that. Look on amazon and you will see the air breathers. They look great. You may have to adjust the air fuel screw a bit but that’s about it.
  2. If you stay under $750 your fine. That bike in decent shape goes for $900 to $1000.
  3. Unfortunately plastics are not cheap. Even the small ones. Considering the prices I’ve seen it’s not a bad price range. Some people run the prices up and then it’s seems to follow with everyone else who’s selling so that price could go up.
  4. Ok that’s good stuff. Well when you get back get after it. Good luck.
  5. Looks great, nice work! Nothing like bringing a bike back from the dead. Be sure to post pics of that new project. Ride safe
  6. That looks pretty bad. Def going to need a new one. I will keep my eyes open for one.
  7. Sounds good. Nice work. If the clutch is grabbing 3/4 way out the clutch needs replacement plates and springs. Not a big deal. Yes is one down four up or five up whatever it is. When you want to go to neutral you go all the way down and a half click up, that’s neutral. You can def replace the air filter IF there is no breathers going to the existing air box. I used one on my old Polaris 90. It worked fine. Looked great too. But only if there is no breather connected.
  8. If the carburetor is clean and no junk got in there from either a dirty tank or whatever then it may just need an adjustment on the air fuel screw. If you can reach the screw turn it all the way in until snug (do not over tighten) and turn it 1-3/4 turns back out. Start the bike up and see how it runs. You will need to adjust out a little more would be my guess and the bike will start to rev up. Continue to turn until the reving starts to die off and go back a hair and you should be good. Adjust the idle after that and you should be good to go. This should all be done with the air box on including the cover as if the bike were ready to ride. Now that’s if it’s juts an adjustment issue. You may have to move the E clip on the main jet up a notch if someone moved it. If the top end was rebuilt, was it a bore out bigger piston ? Reason I’m asking is then you would most likely have to rejet the carburetor for larger jets due to the larger piston/cc size. If the top end was done by a pro then the timing should be good to go. lastly is out a brand new spark plug in so your not making changes/adjustments with a dirty plug
  9. What’s your budget? Reason I’m asking I’ve taken a look on eBay and there’s quiet a few ranging from $25 to about $50 bucks.
  10. Engine off and tester on ohms, phase to phase you should get a reading. Somewhere in the 100’s maybe, It’s in the manual. Test each wire to wire and see what you get. Do this with the pick up coil also. I like to test both ways. One when the bike is ice cold. Second is when the engine is hot. Most of the time stators go bad and you don’t have the option of testing while hot because you have no spark. The acceptable range will be listed in the manual.
  11. Well it’s a last ditch effort. You should test the stator on ohms setting phase to phase and see if the numbers are within range.
  12. Have you checked the rectifier and voltage coming to the battery ? I’m curious to see what you have as far as voltage. Rev the engine a bit and see what’s happening.
  13. That’s awesome. Great job. Dont loose track of that temp plug you made. It could come out and cause a big oil leak and even worse do damage to the engine. Ride safe.
  14. Hello @Christi Enslin welcome to Quadcrazy. Go to the forums tab and start a new topic on the item and list the make, year and model. This will allow us to keep track of the topic and help you out better. If it gets thrown into an existing topic you wound up getting lost in the mix. As far as your bike goes you will find all the help you need here from the members at Quadcrazy
  15. A regular 15 amp fuse will be fine. I’m sure that data base on the engine id will come in handy Im glad the starter worked out for you it was just a lucky find. Good luck.
  16. If you put a cork on the other side you can name the bike Frankenstein!
  17. Atta boy, improvise. Maybe a good idea to keep a cork and tape in my back back!
  18. Did you locate the idle screw ? And double check the cable adjusters at the top and bottom of the throttle cable. They could be maxed out. A cork and tape ???? Cmon you have to share a pic!
  19. whats it look like? Also what was the problem that you found success with.
  20. Ok so go through some of the things listed and see what you have as far as results.
  21. I was going to mention that about the battery. Jumping an atv with a car battery or a car is never good. You can do damage to the stator coil or the rectifier/regulator. So putting the right battery in is a good idea.
  22. The reds are going to the positive + side of the battery. Black to the negative - side of the battery then try to crank it and see what it does. The other two wires are for the starter relay which looks like it’s missing and may be spliced together.
  23. Here’s a diagram that Should be for your bike. It looks like the two reds go to the battery but the green and blues are relay wires. Maybe post a few pics to clear things up. Its for a 2001 but it should be the same or very close.
  24. Welcome to Quadcrazy! Sounds like you have had yiur fair share of bikes! Its tough to ride on the streets today with all the texting and phones. I gave it up as soon as I had kids. Again welcome to Quadcrazy !
