  1. It's the weekend!!! Time to finish putting the 650 back together and I am going to pick up another VW SuperBeetle for my Uncle.
  2. From what I understand it is from the heat build up in the valves and the seats. It appears that the factory materials used does not help dissipate the heat efficiently. Look to some aftermarket suppliers for kimblewhite or Ferrea valves and Ampco 45 or Beryllium Copper seats. I would check the timing chain and cam and see if they are within spec.
  3. Morning QC, We had a few inches of snow but nothing major.
  4. This happens alot when you rev above idle and try to change gears. Two common problems are if your idle is turned up too high from the winter riding season (carb) or if the autochoke/efi is still set to let the bike warm up. I believe the 500 is still a carb model if so then adjust the RPM. Adjusting Engine RPM (Idle) NOTE: The idle RPM is not adjustable on the EFI models. To properly adjust the idle RPM, a tachometer is necessary. To adjust idle RPM, use the following procedure. NOTE: The idle adjustment screw is located on the right-hand side of the carburetor. 1. With the transmission in neutral, start the engine and warm it up to normal operating temperature. 2. Turn the idle adjustment screw clockwise one turn past the recommended RPM setting; then The other thing would be to check that the pod reads the correct gear and not displaying an error. 5. Nice pics, looks like there is still some snow out there.
  6. Morning, What a Monday, I wake up and see snow on the trees and sleet on the ground.
  7. Lawny, If you need help posting a youtube vid PM me the link and I will see what I can do.
  8. Good Morning - We have a ride planned this weekend and I can't wait.
  9. You should hear some of the new counry/rap songs . . LOL [ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JnSEQx9wkvE]YouTube - The Lacs - "Kickin' Up Mud" - Official Video[/ame]
  10. If Mud and Sand is involved then I would say no. But if you do decide to drill make sure it is on the pre filtered side. If the quad is not EFI and you have an aftermarket exhaust you will have to rejet or risk running lean. For some EFI setups you may need to re-map the controller. I am working on something for additional air flow but the intake would not be as low as the airbox.
  11. Good Morning QC. Bimmer, you are gonna have a great time on those two new quads.
  12. Well here is a sneek peek of my spring project. New snorkels with a dual 2" intake and I will also be relocating the Rad. This is a new '08 Airbox that I just converted over to dual 2" intakes. The white is the new fitting before it is painted and glued. It is a threaded fitting that clamps tight but I think I will apply some RTV just incase and possibly plastic weld the outside.
  13. Morning, We have some minor flooding where we are at also.
  14. NOS? Looks like the bike is set up for sand drags. At first I thought it was for hill climbs.

  16. As the devil’s advocate if we deplete everyone's oil resources FIRST then who is left with the only oil on the planet? US. Might be a good play for a resource that is not so quickly renewed. I have not followed the topic too closely but a lot of the oil the US has is in the oil reserve.
  17. Thats cool. When you get it let us know when they will be airing it.
  18. I guess I just was hoping if I wished hard enough it would be true. I will have to go make a sacrifice to the winter gods  by leaving my plow at the ready for another 20 days to persuade Mother Nature to take pity.
