I try to run each quad at least once every two weeks in the winter and they are always kept on battery tenders. That pretty much does the trick every time.

Glad all is well, hope you two are having fun with the little guy. -
I felt it here in PA

I would vote for a day of riding. You don't really need a porch anyways; just pile up a few cinderblocks and you will be fine.

1999 Polaris 400 Sport Pulls Right, Wheel Alignment?
swampcat07 replied to myork1967's topic in Polaris ATV Forum
Edit: You Beat me to the answer. Get that bushing replaced if it is damaged. I would measure the toe in on the tie rods. Maybe it is just out of alignment. You can also fix the problem by adjusting the tie rod ends and leave the stem twisted. The owners manual should state the exact toe in but I keep fooling with mine until it rides the way I want it to. -
 That's alot of posts.

To fill the truck now it is just around $60, and with the quads loaded I get around 10-12 MPG. I would love to see gas for under $3 again.

We need an ATV reality show
swampcat07 replied to hangingon's topic in General Talk - Anything Goes!
Hey if they can do "hillbilly hand fishing" then they can do an ATV reality show. -
RAC is really not set up for visitors more for locals who know the area but want to have permission to ride. My best and only advice is to hook up with someone who knows the area and bring a GPS. This is how I started learning my way around. I took the data from my gps and then overlaid it on their parcels when I got home this way I could tell if I was out of bounds or not. I parked on private property or I would have given you some coordinates to park. Stay away from the walmart parking lot, no tresspassing signs, and PA game lands to start. PS there are a few diffrent sections of RAC such as Pottsville and Treverton. Coal Hill is also on the iffy side right now.

1999 arctic cat 300 4x4 blows smoke
swampcat07 replied to Crawfishkarl's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
It's not too hard if you take your time and definately download the manual, there is a link in the forums. If it is hard to start I would suggest checking the valve clearances which are also listed in there. -

Nice Collection. I was into archery big time when I was growig up now my bow just collects dust. Maybe I should take it out and get some target practice in. -

1999 arctic cat 300 4x4 blows smoke
swampcat07 replied to Crawfishkarl's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Looks like the carb needs a good cleaning. I always thought white smoke was coolant but I think your ATV is oil cooled. Maybe it is some of the condensation in the exhaust burning off. If is is smoke from oil replace the rings and check the cylinder clearances. -
The photo right before the shark looks like Dora from Finding Nemo. Pretty Cool.

Tread Lightly!'s "Respected Access" Campaign - PSAs
swampcat07 replied to TreadLightly's topic in Where To Ride Your ATV
I for one am glad to see the direction you are headed in. Hikers and Bikers also cause erosion and problems with land owners. We all need to work together to gain access to public lands and to respect those private land owners that grant us access, instead of pointing fingers at one another. -
That is a nice looking group of quads.

That brought back some memories.

It looks fast just sitting there! Thanks for sharing the pics.

I would try changing the plug because it can cometimes be a bad plug and then see if the plug sparks to a ground when you try to start it. There may be a problem with the neural switch and that may also keep it from starting depending on the year. You might be able to adjust the linkage to get the nutural light to turn on. Newer models will start in gear if the brake is locked but it may be a bit too old for that.

You would order a blank from the manufacturer and then have a key place cut it.

Thanks for sharing I like the vid.

It sounds like you have a leak in the air intake duct. Check for cracks or loose clamps. I would also make sure your air filter is clean and is good shape with the lid on correctly.
