    I say throw a leg over stuff and try it out. If the dealer or friends let you. Personally I would buy as close to or brand new. But I don't want buy one I don't know the history of.

    Not too good.02 and later seem to be pretty good. 06 or 07 whenever Polaris quit making jet ski's is when quality improved greatly to.

    HO is a better motor. Its built by Fuji. Hit the Scramblers in 98. Not sure if it hit the sportsman in 98 or 99.

    Also the Polaris 550 Xp is claimed to have almost as much power as the 700 sportsman. For people not wanting the fatblock option.

    I think with the addition of ADC on Polaris and the lack of people buying the converson kit. The company might have quit making it.

    If you get a sportsman 500, make sure it is a 500 HO. Any Honda 4x4 is pretty good to. Forget Suzuki unless you have friends or a dealer close to you who actually like Suzuki.

    If the belt drive does not work properly it can cause the shifter lingage to not work right. Just like your idle to high can do the samething.

    Try turning down the Idle. Also has the belt and pulleys been checked lately?

    Most 1/2 ton pickups are barely rated to pull 7,000 lbs. Highest factory listed pulling ability is 1500 lbs for an ATV.

    Only thing I can think of is Ronnies mail order. They have some pretty good diagrams.

    I bought a smaller version for my Ozark last year. It is the best . My 6 year old daughter loves it!!!!!!!!!!! Storerage is better than my soft rack pack with a seat built in it.

    Even the magazines say how easy a Polaris's belt is to change on the trail. Also forgot that clutch kits also increase the life span of a belt.

    Would be better suited for the "This vs. That" section of the forum. Not the Yamaha 2009 Line up , that should be strictly for Yamaha comments. Not Honda , KTM , Polaris, and etc.
