SSRT Pig Roast Event
Frank Angerano replied to mikeexplorer's topic in ATV Picture and Video Sharing
Wow outstanding pics. Looks like you had some fun. Freaking drones are awesome. So how did the machines run ? If I were there food would have been gone by 1:30 😂 I love a pig roast, pulled pork especially! What do you guys do for dinner bbq or head out to a local restaurant? -
Oh ok got it now. The warmer works well from what I hear but the temps you are talking about I don’t think warrant the warmer. Just curious have you pulled the plug to check the color ? Make sure your not having a blackened plug that may take a crank or two in order to get spark if that plug is oiled or rich it’s in a foiled state and could be your problem. That could be from a rich mixture or bad valve seals or rings? Heck I would even do a compression test to be sure.

The last statement is absolutely correct, getting people to sell there quads for less then they want because it’s not running or for whatever reason. Also finding that barn find type quad that’s just been sitting and was left for dead. Me personally I would not get into any of the mechanics that you mention. Way to costly and time consuming. My view is there are a ton of people out there that would spend $1200 -$2000 on a quad because they can’t spend more then that. I have sold quite a few without one problem to date because I go through it with a fine tooth comb and wouldn’t sell it if I felt otherwise. But we can debate that all day. Speaking of barn finds, I may have stumbled upon a HUGE barn find this weekend. Multiple toys in this one just covered in dust. It looks like someone put this stuff away and left it for a few years. Pictures to follow soon if I can get the deal done.

They do sell the Chinese one with the warmer on it as well.
-
Chinese carburetors are not casted like a name brand carburetor. Things internally do not flow like they should. I know for a fact that they do not perform like a name brand. They will start the machine and it will run at half throttle and brake up a bit and have problems starting etc. Your better off locating a used oem and rebuild it per spec including the jets and slap it on. Your chances of finding a used one in good shape is good.

Don’t like the Chinese carbs, never have. Any chance the machine has a warmer for the carburetor? Two wires that go in the back/bottom of the carburetor?

It’s very possible have you reviewed the diagram to see where each wire is supposed to go ? -
That’s crazy thinking your going to be into a machine for $1500 in my opinion. I can asses a machine in 15-20 mins weather it’s worth buying or not and look for the $500 or less if possible. Most people are asking $1000 and never get that and I wind up negotiating it down to at least half of that. I don’t intend on putting more then $250 -$300 and sell it for $1500 to $1800. Most of the time I get my price or dam close to it. Ive come across the occasional quad where the owner was asking $1000 firm and it was worth it. So we get it down do $800- $900 and put very little money into it and more of a clean up then anything. List it for $2000 and get $1700-$1800 but they are far and few in between. In addition to all of this I keep in mind if a machine is beyond repair I look very carefully at the plastics and parts and know I can make my money back if not more on parts. Especially the plastics, they are worth money on certain atv’s. And keep in mind I also track my labor which is a love but also a real cost.
-
Did everything line and bolt up ? Stator coil ? Kill switch included in the kit or did it plug right into the harness? Also the 50 cc atv’s have the rip cord shut down safety on the rear is that connected ?
-
That would prob a better road to go down (shift mechanism). The locking up bothers me I wouldn’t think it would lock up unless there was an issue with the drive train itself that would not correct itself. I’m also surprised that the motor didn’t get damaged by such a sudden stop.
-
Wow that’s a little scary having the wheels lock up. Why would you think it threw two gears ? Strange to say the least. On the clutch my guess is the centrifugal clutch maybe having an issue with worn plates.

2013 Suzuki King Quad 750 tire wear
Frank Angerano replied to Shawn Hurt's topic in Suzuki ATV Forum
Hey @Shawn Hurt welcome to Quadcrazy. When you roll or wreck a quad what’s not really understood is the tubular frame. It’s not as strong as you would think. Having said that I don’t think a roll over would bend the frame but would do a little more damage then you would think. Hear is what I would do. Take the machine and sit it on solid level ground like a garage floor with a nice level slab. Jack the front end up and take the tires off, then pull the shocks off as well so both swing arms are hanging. Double check for any additional damage you may have missed initially. Then take some measurements of the bottom of the rotor to the floor and some other measurements along the frame. Maybe from the front push bar to the edge of the rotors etc and look for something that stands out. Could be as simple as a bad shock. Or in need of an alignment, the tie rod ends could be out of whack etc. Something is going to jump out after taking measurements. Sh** I would even put a laser on a block and see how the front end sits across the center of the hubs where they bolt up, the main bolt with the cotter pin that holds the hub on. If you put a laser on them they should be pretty level just make sure you have the bike on somewhat level ground and it’s jacked up level. Use a torpedo level across the frame and see how it’s sitting, level it off and hit it with a laser level after you know the frame is level. If the handle bars got hit then the steering column could have been bent. Chedk how much thread is exposed on the tie rods and they match each other, if one is more the the other then that’s a problem. Most atv’s when they do not have a rider on them sit higher due to the anticipation of additional weight of the rider so they may slope outward slightly when it sits without anyone on it. When you sit on it the wheels come in due to the weight. So also have someone that’s similar in weight sit on the bike and see what the front tires look like from the front. -

Is the plug gap correct? Obviously what your looking for is a blue spark but the gap could be off and the secondary coil could be weak. I would go with checking the gap first and maybe an adjustment on the air fuel screw. @BuggyMasters has a good point with the choke. I did it myself last week, but I was able to notice a black smoke coming from the exhaust and went back to double check and sure as sh** the choke slide was not properly installed, I backed it out and reset it and problem solved. I also installed two jets in the wrong spots and could not get past 1/4 throttle, this all because I was moving along to quickly. Took a step back and a breather (beer) lol and came back and noticed right away what I did wrong. @BuggyMasters your a big help brother, keep up the good work on helping out. @Flipper Tiffany Roper Jones This one is going to go down as the PITA award for 2019 on atv’s. Stick with it and it will get back to good. -
That’s what I do. I would rather wait and see how it goes and let it go to the right person.
-
Lol glad you figured it out.
-
Looks great! How much you going to ask ?
-
Hey Dave, have you checked that all four tires are the same size or some are more worn then others? I'm assuming it’s 4x4? If any of the four tires are not the same you will have this problem. Especially since your explaining that with the wheels off the ground it’s easier to shift.

Looking good Dan the man! Thought we lost you for a bit. All good ? -
We are mentally connected!!!! Nice!

You need to get you a spare bike. Just a fixer up to have around. At least it’s something to ride. Nothing worse then waiting on parts.
