  1. Yeah the ATV zone is gone now and other fourms like ATVingpa are pretty much dead. There is still some activity here. In general message boards are dying out in favor of social media. Mike
  2. It looks like Textron is doing good for Arctic Cat. Mike
  3. This was the fourth Arctic Cat I bought. I sold my 2007 machine last year. We kept her old 366 as a backup machine. The only other machine I had was a Kymco Mongoose 250 which was her first machine. Sold that and she found she liked a utility quad better. I was actually at the dealer buying parts to overhaul the 366 (shocks, bushings, bearings, etc.) and saw the Alterra. Last year Textron bought out Arctic Cat and the first thing they did was reduce pricing on all machines. I figured for $4500 why not buy new and see what Textron does with Arctic Cat, this way I don't have to buy anything for a few years. Turns out this is their new pricing, not a sale. For example, looking on my dealers site, you can get a 2018 Alterra 500 with EFI for $5000. The 2010 366 model has 9,500 miles on it, still running good, The 2007 400 I sold has 16,000 miles on it. Engine was rebuilt at 14,000 because I sunk it and water/mud got into the motor. The guy wanted it for the motor since it was rebuilt. The newer 700 VLX, he already sold out of the 2018 models. Or how about an Alterra 700 with EPS for $8500. The winch was extra, but I always have a winch on the machines. So far it looks like Textron is going to be a good thing for Arctic Cat. Mike
  4. This past spring I picked up an Alterra 400 for my girl. She is not a fan of full size cats, and her prior machine was a 2010 366. The mid sized models do not have speedracks but I got a nice cargo bag for the rear for a good price. Couldn't beat buying a brand new machine with 4WD for $4500 Mike
  5. I remember you from the ATV zone. You posted some nice videos from riding in Utah with tracks on your quad. Good to see you are still around Mike
  6. I have seen silencers advertised and from what the specs say, reduce the noise output by quite a bit. Ive never had a need for one but my exhaust is stock so it isn't loud. Mike
  7. I agree its the social networks. Many forum boards I am on are pretty much dead now. This one has more activity then others ones. I don't think its because of the popularity of the UTV's Social media sites are easy to share pictures and stuff compared to message boards. A lot of the stuff I do is not ATV related so I don't post it here. Mike
  8. Meeting dates changes, here is the update: Would you like to ride your ATV from the Snow Shoe Rails to Trails all the way to the Whiskey Springs ATV trails? It can happen! Read about the ATV Connector Trail Study being done by LARSON DESIGN GROUP to determine the feasibility of the most direct, environmentally sound, and sustainable connector trail possible between the Bloody Skillet and Whiskey Springs ATV trails. Download and read about the connector trail study here: http://www.docs.dcnr.pa.gov/cs/groups/public/documents/document/DCNR_20033209.pdf If you enjoy riding ATVs and want to see this connector trail become a reality, you’re encouraged to attend a public meeting on either December 12, 2017 or December 19, 2017 from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Durrwachter Alumni Conference Center at Lock Haven University. The meetings scheduled for October 26th and November 9th have been cancelled. The objective of the meetings will be to review the findings of the connector trail study, unveil conceptual routes, and answer questions and concerns. Your participation is needed to make this happen. Local businesses and the ATV community envision the trail as an economic and tourism driver, which would benefit small towns throughout the route. Questions and comments can be submitted through a dedicated email address at [email protected] P.COM
  9. I have been to AOAA and have seen the work they have done to the land. Nice place to ride and it shows you can reclaim land and have good riding trails. Mike
  10. Never leave anyone behind. Its a good rule.
  11. Done, hope it helps
  12. Came across this site today that has a lot of Arctic Cat information. http://shop.arcticcat.eu/isoled-shop/media/uploads/service_support/?dir= Mike
  13. I have the ATV88 model for 10 years now and the ramp always rattled a bit. Putting rubber stops on the end might help but it won't help for up/down rattle noise. Mike
  14. Explorer model holds only one machine, mine is standard size (6 x 8) it was listed at $7000, I got it for $5800 its not cheap but the construction is high quality and the tent is marine canvas Mike
  15. The nice thing about it is the trailer and tent combined is 1,200 pounds. Much lighter then using an enclosed trailer. Mike
  16. Picked up one of these this year to improve our riding and camping. Its a jumping jack trailer which can haul quads or other stuff on the deck, and then opens up into a nice sized tent. We have used it four times so far and really like it. There is even room inside to store gear with the tent down which really saves on packing. The model we have hauls two machines. but they have other larger ones and one size smaller. Mike

  18. You can download a free wiring diagram here: http://www.mymowerparts.com/pdf/Arctic-Cat-ATV-Repair-and-Service-Manuals/ Your model is listed, it is the large PDF file of wiring diagrams. Since you say there is no power anywhere, I would start with the ignition area. Mike
  19. You can now get Koyo bearings from Arctic Cat. Order them by the old part number 1402-027. Around $25 each Mike
  20. You do have to be careful to use the right oil. It has a wet clutch and you have to use the right oil. The one picture is not enough to identify the machine. A front and rear picture could help. It looks like a 2001-2003 machine possibly a 375cc.
  21. Country Cat also posts technical information for free as well. They recently updated their site and that section link is missing. I am told they will fix it, in the meantime this is the direct link: http://countrycat.com/ex-ccstore/index.php/kbase/ Mike
  22. Well you have to consider what his budget is. In low range they can haul a lot. I used my 400 in low range for plowing and this past winter's blizzard, it was pushing a lot of snow no problem. Mike
  23. Maybe you can find a used Arctic Cat TBX, they usually are 400cc motors and have a dump box on the back instead of a rack. Also has a 2 inch receiver. These have been made back to the early 2000's. The shifter has a hi and low range for extra pulling power. Mike
  24. There is also the Northern Wayne Outdoor Recreation Club which has 12 miles of old railroad bed to ride. http://www.nworc.org There are places to stop and eat along the trail
