  1. Does the drum turn when you try too let the cable out? (with the motor) Or, does the motor just run?
  2. Sounds like a garbled up cable or the hook clamp is stuck in the fairlead. Give it some slack on the spool and then a hefty kick or 2 on the back side of the plow. Mine did that till I re-did my cable end.
  3. Here's a trick.....but don't tell anyone I told you this cause it can be dangerous. Try having a buddy pressurize the fuel tank a bit while you crank it over. A slight amount of pressure in the tank will mimick the fuel pump. Just hook a line from a compressor to the vent on the cap and give it a little shot. DO NOT OVER PRESSURIZE IT!!! It will blow itself to peices!! All you need is SLIGHT pressure. This works , when the engine seems like it's dying have your buddy give it another little shot of pressure & see how the engine reacts.
  4. Could it be something as simple as a skid plate hitting the frame after it heated up? Ire you certain the noise is coming from the engine? Try the stethescope trick to see if it's coming from one side of the engine or the other. I like Marioweldings idea, Can you upload a video with sound? That would help.
  5. I wasn't sure on the 4-stroke. good advise on the decompressor.
  6. If it's a 2 stroke......make sure the piston isn't rotataed 180 degrees. Mist 2 strokes the piston has to be clocked correctly to line up the ports.......some 4 strokes require that too, but not for port alignment.
  7. Bad connections or bad neutral safety switch.
  8. I got ITP Mudlite XTR's @ I love em'......not the best on pavement but I've never gotten it stuck. They hook up great in the snow & even better in the mud. They might be a tad more expensive but well worth the investment, especially with the anti-puncture characteristics of the radial.
  9. I tried logging into your usendit accout to browse thru the manuals you have & it says the email address is invalid. Did the log-in information change?
  10. That's a good deal......I'd buy it. that's identical to my quad. Very rugged machine & what he describes that are broken are all simple fixes.
  11. Could be fuses or a bad starter relay.....or bad starter button. Work your way backwards from the solenoid up checking for voltage.
  12. Just put a new pump rotor in it & now it runs worse!!! I'm really getting pissed off @ this thing. I found the pump pressure adjustment & guage port. so all is good there. It just won't build enough pressure to operate properly. I'm @ a loss with this damn thing. It will NOT go above 4 psi. no matter what I do with the adjustment screw. All the lines are new, new plug, new filters, fresh fuel, new rotor and vains. The only thing I can think of now is a weak spring in the nozzle assembly......but I'm getting tired of throwing money @ this thing. Anybody have ideas with this dang thing, or experienced a similar failure? I'm quite certain the low pump pressure is the issue but don't know what else to do to fix it???????
  13. sounds like you might have killed the starter by overcranking it. Have you tried jumping the starter? Checked the starter solenoid? I know that is a different issue with it not running. I'd check for good spark and fuel after you get the starter figured out.
  14. Update....I rebuilt the entire heater, new pressure line, fuel line, filter, nozzle is clean, new plug. I re-checked all the electrical connections. It runs OK but now I cant get it to build enough pressure to set the pump pressure. It should run @ 5 psi. , but I can only get around 3.8-4 on the guage. I'm thinking it's a worn rotor/vein assembly. I'm tired of working on this simple machine!!! It's driving me insane!! Any tips to rigging the pump would be appreciated. I'm thinking of tightening the headspace tolerance by surface grinding the pump housing.
  15. That certainly sounds like a worn belt. My snowmobile would do the same thing. Does it have clutch work , or is it stock?
  16. Good morning...It's 4:57 am. & I'm wide awake drinking a beer.....Barely slept a wink..... Gotta go to my moms funeral today.
  17. Your welcome Tom. Mario, that's a great idea. I like that idea alot! I might try to @ least find a way to put a 1qt. bottle in my toolbox just for emergencies.
  18. 2x22 LED Strobe Flashing Light Emergency Bright Yellow | eBay Tom, When I started plowing I installed the strobes because I almost caused an accident @ the end of my driveway. Just the headlights & tail lights gave me ZERO side exposure to traffic. I found these LED strobes on ebay. Cheapy chinese set-up, but I re-soldered all the led heads and install was pretty easy. They are made by TypeR. I had to waterproof the wires going into the heads & I ran the wiring along my factory harness. It is quite easy if you understand simple wiring. The controllers are very small so it fit under my seat with no problem. I don't know why the video i posted doesn't work....maybe one of the mods will know how to fix it. I'll see if I can find a link to them on ebay for yah. The link I added is the same type I have. I bought 2 (4 x 22 Kits) and wired them all to one controller. Total of 8 heads. @ on each corner of the quad. If you click on my avtar & look on my videos there is one of the lights in action.
  19. I put LED strobe lights on mine for when I'm out plowing driveways. More of a fun thing to have but it does make me feel safer while plowing by the street & it legal for me to go from driveway to driveway. Just thought I'd share. <embed src='http://www.quadcrazy.com/file/player/player.swf' height='360' width='499' allowscriptaccess='always' allowfullscreen='true' flashvars="&bandwidth=8532&file=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.quadcrazy.com%2Fphpfoxvideoplaylist%2Fvideo_857&logo=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.quadcrazy.com%2Fimages%2Fqcwatermark.png&plugins=viral-2&stretching=fill&viral.functions=embed%2Cinfo%2Clink%2Crecommendations&viral.recommendations=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.quadcrazy.com%2Fyahoovideositemap&logo.file=http://www.quadcrazy.com/images/qcwatermark.png"/>
  20. This one has no adjustment screw that I can find. It runs GREAT till it shuts down. It doesn't shoot flame past the outer shield. It's an awesome heater but just started acting up when I got it out of storage, that's why i'm suspecting moisture. After I rebuilt it last year it would run constant, quiet, not smelly, & it would heat me out of my 24'x24' un-insulated garage in about 10 minutes. Now it's just not running right......I guess I'll try some fuel addative & see if that makes a difference. Dunno what else to do @ this point. It's a pretty simple machine.
  21. I run K-1 kerosene. Just wondering what type of "dry gas" I could run in it that won't kill it. I'd never add gasoline. The belly tank looks clean but it would be a pain in the butt to drain. A fuel additive suggestion is what I'm looking for......Just to rule out a moisture issue.
  22. Ok, all you guys/gals are good with this type of stuff. I have a Reddy Heater 150,000 btu torpedo heater thats acting strange. It shuts off after about 5-8 minutes of run time. I re-tuned it last year, but now it's acting crazy. It burns fine until it shuts down. If I reset it right after the switch trips it will not fire!......It just blows out raw fuel. If I let it sit for a few minutes it will fire back up and run good for another five minutes or so then shuts down again. I've replaced the plug, cleaned the filter & nozzle, pump housing, checked all the lines for the pump & it all looks good. The photocell is clean & the fact that it shut's down when it doesn't fire back up tells me the photocell is functioning properly. The last thing I'm thinking is it possibly has some water in the fuel tank. It looks clean but here is my question.....can I simply mix some dry gas ( isopropyl alcohol) with the kerosene or should I use some type of diesel style fuel drier??? I don't want to blow something up. It really acts like it has moisture in the fuel but what do I use for "dry gas" in kerosene??? Thanks for any advice.
  23. Earthmover......That's a very good point & observation, I'm gonna have too flip mine over.
  24. It's windy as hell here (N.E. Ohio) & I've got branches all over my yard, Including the huge one that fell on my house a few hours ago. No major damage yet but the one on the house is going to be a bit of a challenge getting down without ripping the hell out of my gutters. Hope everyone stays safe out there!!
