    i agree Tim, i think (judging from the videos) its much more a jet ski than quad. the coolest thing i ever drove from land into water was this amphibious. when i was in my teens, i worked on an island (Nicholson Island Who knows about Nicholson Island? : Prince Edward County News countylive.ca) that was used for hunting for the famous and wealthy. they had 2 of these beasts ... and that car is bad a$$ !!

    i think it should be higher too, but not 100 percent sure ... i have some motorcycle links that i will try and find your beast ... yes rings and look at valve seals too ...

    geographically ? i lived in trenton, belleville, grew up in prince edward county, and lived also in napanee and kingston ... funny, always close to the lake ontario shores ... i like ontario, just wish we werent taxed so much ... here in alberta, 5 percent sales tax ... its nice

    after it sits, you say it starts and runs? i would try a new coil ... you might want to cut back the wire to the plug cap first, give that a try with some fresh un-corroded wire ... normally, a coil with work fine being cold until it over heats itself, then it will stop the spark until it cools off ...

    as much as it hurts, 375.00 bucks for 5 years of pleasure isnt too bad ... and you still have a quad ... a good quad, nothing wrong with Hondas !! i say find your daughter the dirt bike and you will be back in the saddle

    i am thinking more of a poor quality electrical unit that was made; looking in the suzuki forums, youre not the only one this happens to. i wonder if an aftermaket unit was ever made a bit heavier duty ??

    carb/jets might be gummed up ... air/fuel mix screw might need a tinkering ... try running it with some sea foam carb cleaner too ...

    a couple weeks ago, i bought a parts quad, an 88 big bear. as it has been cold up until this weekend, i have not started determining what is salvageable, until now. i really wanted the trunk compartment from this bike, as mine was cracked. i also wanted the carburetor. as i started to dis-assemble the carb pieces, i giggled at what i saw and then thought, what a great fix !! the rubber manifold was like a canadian redneck fix, and very nicely done ... i had a cracked manifold boot and it cost me 70 bucks for a new one ... this fix is so simple ... take the rubber manifold boot off the carb and cylinder, wrap all the rubber with drywall adhesive fiber mesh tape, and coat it with hockey skate toe protector. the toe protector hardens solid and is very very strong if you have never been around it before. you can re-coat as many times as you like, but let dry completely first.

    Cool vid wylde1 !! heck, you dont need tracks, you did just fine ... and blew out all the carbon build-up. is that a YAMI i see ???

    does it run good on level ground and not under a load (like a hill) ? if it does, do a compression check or maybe the carb isnt getting enough fuel ?

    is the rubber manifold in good condition ? sometimes they split and you dont see it. if you have carb spray, you can spray it around the manifold, and if the rpm changes, thats the problem. it also could be the valves not in spec, or a timing issue with the tensioner or stretched chain ... you put a new carb on the bike ? there should be an air/fuel mix screw that might fix it also, be patient, when you turn it, it might take a bit to "kick in" ... trial and error, but screw should be 2 1/2 - 2 3/4 turns out from all the way in ...

    i think it has an over-ride button for reverse ... if you dont use it, it sounds exactly like you said ...
