    bad ground(s) and/or hot wires touching each other ... at the neck of the handlebars and running under the seat you might find some bared wires ...

    Welcome Mario, you probably have a 350cc if its 4x4 and a 250cc if its 2x4 ... most of the time the older ones wont spark, usually a stator will fix you right up ... if you can get the vin #, you can online search it ... number is on the handle bar neck, and stamped in the frame at the gear shift on the frame ... should be 17 digits

    mine has that same issue with my grizzly, i can hear it engage, light says its engaged, but no 4x4... dirt/mud inside and was told to take it off and apart once its out to clean internals ...

    it has to come off best to my knowledge and it comes apart to clean inside ...

    i tried searching some threads here for shock mounts but wasnt successful, but i do know the guys that got them were happy with them, they make a world of difference ...

    it will be easier to dump the fuel and put new in and see if that helps, if not maybe rejet ... how are the valves ?? set to the right valve lash ?

    im not sure where you can except through Motorcycle Parts, Riding Gear & Accessories |BikeBandit.com , and www.rockymountainatv.com ... they will be pricey ... berrymans chem dip is good for the carb, an over night soak in the pail may clean everything up ... maybe a good clean and compressed air through it might help ...

    i think 84 big reds have electric start, shaft drive, high/low/reverse ... check the vin tag at the gas tank front and where the handle bars slide in. sea foam is the product name and i would 2 times the recommended dose ... i would shop online for the best price, wesco pistons and rings are good ...
