  5. try a new belt maybe .... take a measurement of the belt you have (width) and compare it to a new one ...
  6. make sure your oil is atv oil, polaris for your machine, a little more expensive but worth it ... make sure it is topped up, there may be an adjustment for the clutch on the outside of transmission ... look for a slotted screw head with a nut around it ... not sure what direction tightens //// heres a manual from 2001 ...https://www.hightail.com/download/UlRTWUh0WkIzMWxqQTlVag
  7. spray some carb cleaner in the carb and try to keep it running while you do this, also seafoam in the tank might help ... but you may have to clean the carb manually ...
  8. there are 2 wires for your safety switch ... you could splice them together to bypass the switch altogether, but if you have kids starting the bike, maybe not ... when bypassed, it can start in gear ...
  9. probably a dirty carb ... and/or float level needs adjusting
  10. this is what i found on another forum with your 220 /// There is a switch on the end of the gear change drum that signals when the tranny is in neutral or reverse. It's made of plastic and can sometimes break. More often the contacts are rusted even though it sits in oil. You have to remove the left engine cover and final drive case to get at the switch. You can often do this by sliding the motor ahead in the frame instead of pulling the motor. here is a manual for your bike here ... https://www.hightail.com/download/UlRSK2VxZy9tMEp3SGNUQw
  11. you will need that neutral light on unless it was bypassed ... like dtbprc said, could be bad connection or a broken wire ,,, most times the switch is on the flat of the transmission behind the motor, looks like a sending unit, usually just a one wire deal ...
  12. I wouldn't put a really tall tire in the rear...as you will lose alot of power that way. i would put bear claws on the back, and something skinny on the front so you dont plow .... [ame] [/ame]
  13. i only have a parts manual and a supplementary manual ... 2002 Yamaha YFM 80 Parts Manual.PDF 2002 Yamaha YFM 80 Service Manual.PDF
  14. No ... the first # is the tire height, second # is the tire width and third # is the rim size ... you can go a little bigger on the first 2 #s but you have to stay with the rim size (third #)
  15. when you say it does nothing, like it doesnt crank over ? try locating the neutral/safety switch and make sure the wire(s) are good and connected first ... if the code is EI, there is something wrong in the fuel system ...
  16. you can find the VIN # by the shift lever on the left of the bike ... very hard to see but it is there ,,, flashlight and rag are the best tools and depending on your eyes, a magnifying glass too ... once you have that VIN, you can run it and find out everything you need to know
  17. Take the (angle) sensor off and clean it with a q-tip and pressure spray it with a can of compressed air-dust cleaner. It's a bit of a challenge getting to it ... there are only 2 bolts that hold the small metal cover over the sensor and 2 bolts that hold the sensor on. Also clean the small rubber seal-ring inside as well, make sure you don't lose it when you take the sensor off and also clean the sensor wire connection plug and put some dielectric grease on it.
