I have always been on street and dirt bikes.  But got a ranch a few years ago and picked up a Polaris Ranger.  That naturally lead me into an ATV about 18 months later.  No that I have it, its the one thing I ride the most and great for shores/work

I got an old Kawasaki Mojave 250 for Christmas when I was 14 or 15.  A couple years later, my Dad bought a Polaris Scrambler 400 and I took it over. From there, I've pretty much been a Polaris guy with another Scrambler, a couple Sportsmans, a RZR4. I'm 36 now with a family of my own I've got another couple Sportsmans and a Trailblazer and an oddball Yamaha Grizzly 660.

I have 12 cousins who have always had quads and dirt bikes but I never did. We all live on my grandfather's farm and after hears of watching them ride I finally got my first broke down quad at 45 years old. Now at 45 I buy fix and sell.

FNG here, got into quads after riding 2 wheeled motor driven vehicles since child hood. As I age gracefully, I am realizing that injuries dont heal up as quickly as they used to. Intro 4 wheeled off road machines. UTVs are too expensive and dont make financial sense to me (I have a 4wd truck that I use for off roading also). ATVs are much closer to dirt bikes than a UTV, can be just as challenging to ride as a dirt bike, and I am finding out they are ALMOST as fun as a dirt bike🙂....

Looking forward to many years on an ATV 😎

Well...

Due to this corona time, I have to had something to tinker about. So, I bid an ATV from local Copart yard last week. Not so bad, some new parts to change. Hopefully get it back to road on next week.

I didn't know copart was into anything but automotive. I'm going to check them out. They have a depot 5 miles from where I live easy pickup. Thanks for the tip.

Nice! Great time for a project!
What is it, year and any pics ?

Its Sportsman -19, limited to 60kph as its registered as tractor.

Easy project, got it inspected today. Further to do, it needs new tyres, and like to have winch and snowplow too for a winter.

@JuhaT  looks good too!  what was wrong with it?

It was hit to something on its left front tyre and rolled over maybe. Lower A-arm and steering rod bent, replaced them. And minor scrathes here and there.

Tyres are allmost gone on front, it's have been on road use 100 hour/4000kms.

Sweet, did you get a good deal ?

Well, I did some watching about other auctions to see the general price level. On this vehicle, cons was bit high kilometers and missing service book. Thought, I believe I made atleast a reasonable deal.

Since this have factory quarantee still 1 year left, if serviced on dealer but not history marked on Polaris system. Just did some search about the previous owner and his local dealer, going to ask if any service history will be available. I allready make oil changes to front and rear diff, but started to think if I can find a service history, it may be wise to do the maintenance by dealer to keep the quarantee running. I have read that Polaris have strictly order to that service have to be done official service to keep quarantee running.

Using paid services is bit odd to me, I have always done (almost) all maintenace to my vehicles by myself... 😉

I hear ya, if you can get proof that the warranty is still in effect and they will cover any breakdowns then i would say stick it out  for a year and let them do the maintenance.  Heck its only a once a year thing anyway unless your putting a lot of hours on the atv.

I am trying to diagnose a no spark issue with my 02 Big Bear 400 and I am really hoping it is not a CDI.  I have done the test on the stator and I believe that is faulty.  I ordered a new aftermarket one from a the jungle website and it tested bad right out of the box so I am waiting for a different one to arrive from an ATV parts supplier.  I started looking out of curiosity at CDI units and it seems if it is for a big bear you are SOL.  Kodiaks, no problem.  Big Bear. No such luck.

I have this bike in my shop for a customer. It was sunk completely under water and left running until it killed. I did a complete engine rebuild. Replaced all bearings, crank, oil pump, and various other components. Engine starts and runs great. It will shift up through all gears perfectly in automatic and in ESP, but when slowing down it gets to 3rd gear and the MIL "-" light comes on and stays on. No flashes or anything and it will not shift gears. Kill the engine and restart in ESP mode and it is able to shift to neutral and start over. Does the same thing while down shifting in ESP mode. I replaced shift angle sensor with no improvement. Checked oil pressures as per repair manual "74psi" and higher with higher RPM's. With no MIL codes to point at an issue. I am at a loss as to what else to check or replace. Has anyone else ran across this issue?

When you and a group of friends decide you want to take a long group trip of camping/riding/overlanding, how far are you willing to drive for your trip? Right now, i find it really difficult to want to drive more than 2-3 hours one way.
