2006 Arctic Cat 500 stalling problem
mikeexplorer replied to swaldow's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
The plug doesn't have to be fouled to have a weak spark. It may have gone bad internally. I would start there. Other possible causes is the carb is dirty, or the valves might need adjusting. Try adding a good dose of Seafoam in the gas and see if that helps it out. Mike -
Here is one I got.

2006 Artic Cat 700 efi wont turn start
mikeexplorer replied to tapandsons's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Arctic Cats have a CDI box usually located under the seat that could cause this. I could start my quad with the pod removed. (removed it once to dry it out) Also if the ACC fuse is blown the pod will be blank, but the quad will still fire up. (had that happen too) Mike -
2006 Artic Cat 400 Auto - engine stumble
mikeexplorer replied to nutsy's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
Something to try is to hold in the reverse override and see if the problem goes away. The CDI might be thinking your in reverse, which unfortunately could mean a bad CDI box. Mike -
2006 Artic Cat 700 efi wont turn start

No display would make me tend to think a blown fuse. My quad is carb'ed but a blown ACC fuse will make my pod blank but the backlights work. Mike -
Dying Problem - 09 700 H1 - Please Help!

Stock batteries tend not to last long. I replaced mine with an aftermarket one and its been good since. -
The course is about 22 miles long and technical. They added a new section this year which runs through a pine forest area. The course will take 3-3.5 hours to run. They always put on the best poker run. Mike

Hallstead is holding their 4th annual ATV poker run. Just off the Great Bend exit of I-81 near the NY border. Details can be found here. Hallstead Volunteer Fire Company - Station 7 - Hallstead, PA This is the perhaps the best poker run. The course is about 22 miles and is technical. Dirt bikes and dune buggies are NOT recommended for this course. Mike HVFD_PR_2010_3.pdf

2004 Arctic Cat 500 4x4 bolt pattern?
mikeexplorer replied to Zmeyer's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
I also switched to Bighorns this year and they are a great tire! Mike -
Depending on how bad its fouled it might take a week or so to clear up. Better then ripping into it if you don't have to. On a different note, my SUV gauge crapped again so I dumped another bottle in and two days later, good again. Mike

This is a common problem and I also had it. Arctic Cat posted a bulletin about and one easy way to possibly fix it is to buy a bottle of Chevron's Techron additive and put about half of it in and the rest on the next tankful. It cleared my issue up for awhile. I also had a weird problem with my SUV suddenly only reading from half to full all the time. I dumped a bottle of the stuff in and it cleared it up in about 2 weeks. That was over a year ago and its been fine ever since. It seems to be sulfur deposits that gets on the sending unit fouling it up. Mike

2003 Arctic Cat 400 electric starter will not crank
mikeexplorer replied to Alan 's topic in Arctic Cat ATV Forum
I had this same situation. Everything is dead, no pod, lights, etc.. But I can pull start it or if I plug a jump box into the accessory plug, I can electric start it. Once running everything works except I noticed the headlamps flickered a bit. What it was in my case was a broken hot wire from the battery to the main 30amp fuse. What you need to do is a continuity test between the (+) terminal of the battery to your main fuse. (pull the fuse and check it) If this is the case, the repair is a pain, you have to yank the plastics off and start taking your harness apart. I found my wire broken since it rubbed against the frame. I re-routed it so I didn't have to splice a new wire in. Above, I posted a link where you can download the schematics for your machine. My quad is a 2007 400 but I would think the main lead is the same. Mike -
There should be a button on the left handlebar that is usually yellow and is the reverse override. When in reverse, the RPM's are limited unless you press this. There could be an issue with this. It does sound like something got in the gas since it happened after he filled it. That happened to me with my car right after a fill up, ran terrible and had to add gas stabilizer to clear it up. A good dose of Seafoam would help. Mike

Sounds like the battery went dead on you are it has a dead cell. After charging it you will know. It is not unusual for a battery to just go. I got lucky with mine as the pod would flash "volt" on it and it was slow cranking. I replaced it with an aftermarket battery and its been great ever since. Mike -
The engine is only 10cc smaller then mine and the quad is 100lbs lighter so I am sure it has a lot of pep to it. Plus its the H1 motor. Mike
