    if it were me, and i be way off base here, but i would get a voltage meter and check your coil, voltage regulator, stator and pick up coil. if the bike is running under minimal load and your lights are good, there is obviously no generation happening when you rev it and your lights dim. something is robbing the power. make any sense? i would think maybe more stator and pick up coil though ... JMO

    check where the clutch cable is inside. sounds like it slipped off where it is supposed to hook in. maybe the felow didn't have it connected right when he put it back together... i have the manual for the 2002 ... 2002 Yamaha Blaster YFS 200 P Service Manual.pdf

    you're absolutely right mario, clutch pressure only with that adjustment. the knocks might be the valves, if they are out of wack it'll knock and smoke.

    if the bike has sat for any length of time, i'm sure your carb is gummed up and needs to be cleaned. i'm assuming this is an arctic cat since it's in the arctic cat forum? i'm sure with a good cleaning you will be back on the trails in no time ... and welcome to quad crazy !! keep us posted
