  1. Go to any store that sell lawn tractors, they will likely have trailers that will be perfect for that kind of stuff.
  2. What kind of trike is it????
  3. Check the kill switch and the wiring that goes to it. Also check any other wiring in your ignition system, a digital multi-meter is helpful. As far as a wiring diagram, get a manual, it is something that you will want to have anyway. Yamaha Manual Store - Genuine Yamaha Manuals
  4. I don't know anything about the King quad, but my LTR makes some funny gear noises sometimes. It has done it since it was brand new. I think that the noise is caused by the gears not shifting 100% into position. Mine has not done it in a while now that I think of it, maybe it just needed to be broken in. If it worries you, I would take it to your local dealer and ask them what they think of it.

  7. If you have a bad tranny side crank seal, the motor will suck oil in to the crankcase. If the stator side seal is bad, then you will have an air leak. You will probably need to replace both seals and check the crank bearings and journals too, a sloppy crankshaft could have caused the seals to go bad creating an air leak and thus burning up your top-end.
  8. It seems like the vacuum signal from the carb is what keeps the petcock open, when the motor dies, the valve closes, thus shutting off the fuel supply. That is probably why there is no off position. If there is not a sufficient vacuum signal coming through that line the fuel flow will be stopped or insufficient. You could have one of three problems. There may still be some kind of blockage in the carb that was not removed, or the carb was damaged in some other way. The vaccume line could be damaged. Or the petcock is indeed bad. Also keep in mind, vacuum lines like that aren't like a regular fuel hose, they need to be made of a more ridgid material that won't collapse when pressure or vacuum is applied. At any rate, I don't see any reason that you can't just block the vacuum line from the carb and use a standard three position petcock instead.
  9. Shouldn't the second part of this post be the beginning of a new topic?
  10. After you replace that piston, make sure you do a leakdown test like MWKE recommended. Air leaks can lead to quick devastation. Also, when you replace one ignition component without replacing the rest, you probably need to adjust the timing. Or, you could just put a CR 500 motor in it.
  11. I moved this thread into the project room. Those a-arms are badass, looks like that is going to be a killer ride when you are done.
  12. I suppose it is worth a try to clean it out, if it works it would certainly be cheaper than buying a new one.
  13. Welcome back, quad looks good, what are your plans for the 300?
  14. I would recommend the newest one you can find, the different years aren't that much different. The '85-'86 motors have higher compression, especially the '85. In '87 they began using the long rod. Gearing changed a bit over the years also. All in all, the newer the motor the better as a newer motor will likely be in better condition and be easier to find parts for.
  15. Well then, that might be a pretty easy swap, I guess that makes your chances of finding a motor a bit better as well.
  16. If you can't find used stuff, service Honda has the best prices I have found on new O.E.M. parts, I usually save 30 to 40% off dealer prices.
  17. 7 years and this is the first issue, I can only hope that my LTR is as reliable as that.
  18. Moved this thread to the 3-wheeler forum, was going to add ATC to the title but my mod powers don't work in this forum. MWKE???????? TP, weren't you thinking about building a CR 500 trike? I'll trade you motors:yes:.
  19. Motor mounts are easily moved, new mounts are often the easiest part of a motor swap. Depending on how different the motors are, clearances and intake/exhaust plumbing are the most difficult part IMO. Are the 650 and 500 motors based on the same design? If so, the bottom end may bolt in the same, it may just be the top end that needs modification.
  20. What is the fuse for? Is there only one fuse on the whole machine? Please be more descriptive.
  21. Good luck finding your motor.
  22. Maybe you need to change your oil more frequently. Keep an ear open and listen for bad sounds, unless you start hearing some, ride that thing like it owes you money. Oh, and use your clutch.
  23. Thanks Scott. Yes MWKE, that is a 200X, good eye, and if you even have mud in Cali, you can send it here if you don't want it, I can always use a little more. We are a lucky few who have that option aren't we Wheeler.
