  1. FMF= flying monkey fart.. At least thats how they sounded as I passed them with my LRD...LMAO LRD= Lehman reserch and development.....<EG>
  2. A 450 is in your future. They are alot easier to ride than a R. I have a 250R and I love it but I borrow a 450 to race. It took me 54 years to get old enough for a 4 stroke.<EG>
  3. They will but you will need the coil and CDI. The older unit was both in 1.
  4. Id start with cleaning the carb. Sounds like something floating around and plugging a jet.
  5. Bummer. Seeins your AC dealer cant help. Maybe find a Kymco (I think your model is a Kymco) dealer and see if he can help. Maybe they have seen this before. Kymcos are usually trouble free.
  6. Id stick the stock jet in. Why did you feel a jetting change was needed?
  7. To be honest mom, you may be a lil too worried about all this. A 125 isnt a full sized quad and a 9 year old should be ok on it. Most 125s are sluggs so warp speed wont happen. The rider needs to know how to ride a quad (under supervision) before he goes to a safety course. They teach the safety aspect not how to ride. Yes a full set of gear (helmet, boots, chest protector, and gloves) would be a great thing buit as long as he has a helmet on its ok. Take a deep breath. Itll be OK.
  8. A adult quad for a lil kid. CRAZY!!!..You are putting your child in serious danger!! The kid deserves a proper sized quad. IMO a 90/125 cc machine. Some kids have vast expierience so their parents feel more comfy letting their kids ride a dangerously large machine. You kid has non. Like you suspect, he will wreck, he will get scared, and possibly not want to ride anything ever again. Go to atvsafetyinstitute.com and they have common sence rules on the proper sizing of a quad to a child. After that, go slap the person that bought that big machine in the first place.
  9. Id like to know exactly what parts are being damaged. They have been run 2 years, right? Going on Polaris statement, Dirt particles can be very hard to deal with. When we raced, I asked many motor builders that told me the same thing ie: the dirt particles are so small that they can get in. It sounds to me like daily air filter maintenence is needed along with a outerwears (outerwears.com) over the stock filter. This will really help. Id think the dealership would have recommended this when purchaced. I also would recommend that the Polaris dealer show you where the air can get in "other places" as Polaris stated. That seems weird in a way but I suppose a carb can suck air in the vents. As far as the 2nd and 3rd of your ending statements/question:: IMO your dealer sucks! 6 new machines bought and they didnt spend any time explaining these "extra" things. Polaris is not loved by all. There are reasons Im sure. I know I wont be having one anytime soon. Personally, Last thing Id be doing is a trek thru the outback on anything less than a Honda. The answer here is you need a expierienced mechanic/tour guide. I have years of expierience. Please send one way ticket as once Im there, I wont want to come back.
  10. At atvconnection there is a guy "old polaris tech" hes right up on all the polaris stuff. As for a diagram, go to a dealer site and look up the parts fiche.
  11. Im not sure this is the problem but you can check::: There has been many carb problems since ethanol. It seems that it makes the float needle not seat correct/stick. The carb fills up with fuel and then fills the motor. If this is happening, try shutting the fuel off and let the carb run dry when done riding. It seems to help.
  12. Its a scooter motor and tons of parts and options from mild to a good wallet cleaning...LOL Call Hetrick racing or g-force. hetrickracing.com g-forcepowersports.com Usually a aftermarket carb/reed cage and pipe are the first mods.
  13. I think itll make a nice starter quad. The price seems mighty fair IMO.
  14. Plugged pipe? I always start with a good carb cleaning to eliminate that aspect.
  15. 5 years old dude. Maybe start a new thread.
  16. Holy photoshop batman! How ya break an axel on both sides and you havent even landed yet. Nice try dude.
  17. Im 56. Raced 3 ATV MX Nationals this year. Still not last! No cage for me as Im surely not "that" old..... I dont blame you for not wanting to get on that 700. Youd prolly get a altitude nose bleed. My 250R sat low enough my elbows dragged, not my knuckles...LMAO Does your son get into boating? Why else would he want a blue anchor?! :D
  18. You need to clean your carb now. It sounds like something is blocking a jet.
  19. Yes, they made new LT50s...LTA50s as they are called. Up to 2005 I believe. Not that it matters but LT80s dont have hydraulic brakes..
  20. Have you checked the air box? Ive had a similiar expierience with a mouse nest.
  21. More info would be needed. What machine? Maybe post a video so we can hear the noise.
  22. Here is a reply I got from a polaris mechanic::: "Nope, wont work,or at least not for long... The cylinder is already worn down .004 over standard bore and I assume the stock piston is in about the same shape or worse. When the piston/cyl clearance gets around .005 they start rattling, then later on people wonder why the piston skirts broke! Can't do like they did on cars years and years ago and just use oversize rings. Plus it'd have to be honed down to even get the .010 oversize ring end gaps to work which would make it even worse on the stock piston to cylinder clearance. Lot of shaking and rattling would be going on and just plain wrong. Says he has to only go 800 feet to check the mail, but think he'd be walking about 600 feet of that when the engine goes south on him. He'd be better of just trying std rings and seeing how long it'd last. But sooner or later he's gotta bite the bullet and do it right, new oversize piston and rings, cylinder bore then he can go check the mail and maybe even go a little further... " I understand money is tight but to do it right is about $175. more (115 for the piston/60 for the bore) than youll have in it anyways.
  23. Ok, Im reading that as you have 4 thousandths clearance. That is within spec. Id get stock rings. To explain about the .25mm over ring thing:: you would need alot more clearance to get them to fit. The pin in the piston is so the ring ends dont ride over the ports and cause damage. 4 strokes dont have the pins cuz the rings are supposed to spin. The ppl you asked about boring is goofy to me. They could bore .25mm with their precision hone. Ill see if I can send a guy over to help.
  24. No. Cant do that. 90 comp isnt too bad. measure the piston to cylinder difference. Max is .007. Maybe just stock rings will do it. You are already buying rings and gaskets. I see the piston is $104. Might have to get a new piston .025 over and have the cylinder bored. powersportswarehouse.com for parts
