    i keep an empty coke bottle to get water to put in the radiator if i ever have a over heating problem ... along with most of the other items mentioned ...

    check the connection on the wireing .... also make sjure you dont have the battery wire crossed ...

    used quad prices have gone up some ... but i think it because of people wanting to get as much for them as they can ... they price them higher so that they have a little room to negotiate ... there for it seems they are higher prices go up slightly near christmas and will fall after ... then go back up around tax time .. then fall in early summer the go back up when it really nice then fall again in the fall ... i buy and sell atv's alot and know the yo yo of prices ...

    its worth about that much ... i part out quads and buy sell repair them all the time and could part it out on ebay and tripple my money at that price

    there are several different racing venues to check out ... what kind of quads are you wanting to race ?

    you may also want to check and make shure its not sucking ait between the carb and cylinder (motor)

    i have a garage full of quads have different brands also ... the polaris sportsman is a good choice for what you have said you will be doing ... i have 1 and its fuel injected and thats really nice in the winter ...arctic cat also makes a nice 500 ...

    there is a dealer for them in southern illinois and another in indianapolis ... you can check online 2 see what the names of the dealers are then contact them ... sorry i dont know the names ...

    im not shure about that ? but i do know most have a starter clutch (one way gear )its what grabs and turns the motor over when the started engages

    your parts should sell pretty well on ebay... i have parted out 2 of them on there ... you will have better luck and get better sales prices if you can wait till late feburary to sell them ... i sell about 10 quads (partout)on ebay every 2 months ...

    check all the electrical connections and make shure they are not corroded ... this is a problem with alot of polaris quads ...

    yes i agree ... check all of thoes items ... you may also try to squirt som gas in the cylinder then put the spark plug back in and turn it over .. if it starts then its a carb/fuel problem

    they are a pain to get to ... i havent taken mine out but looks like it will be a job.. im getting ready to put a new wench on mine and have to get to the battery cables and im not looking foreward to it ..

    if you can find the same year an model of 1 that is not a 6x6 then you should be able to take the rear out an swap them ... i have a friend that did this on his 350L6x6 he just put the rear from a 2wd 350L in it and went that way ...

    it also sounds like you might have an electrical issue ... check plugs an connections for corrosion

    i have 2 arctic cat 6000 sleds ....they are 500cc 2 cylinder 2 stroke's .. and will run 80+mph...lol.

    1999 400ex with 2007 motor and plastic and alot of other goodies ...

    check to make shure it dosent have a vaccume leak on the intake boot....i have seen them have a crack or not seal very well and will do this once they warm up... it also could be vapor locking ... put a piece of wire around the fuel line ... wrap it around several times .... or use the old clothes pit trick

    you will have to buy a xr400 dirt bike motor and take the side cover and kick start parts out of it to put kick on your 400ex ... its not an easy task and will cost alot to do it ... i have seen 1 that way and it was kool but cost about 1000 to do it ...(had 2 buy a complete xr400)
