  1. If it makes you feel any better, my Honda will beat the pants off my Suzuki, granted no one else will ride my Honda, so I don't know what would happen if we switched bikes and I rode the LTR, but I am sure the results would be similar, go Honda! Anyway, I agree with the neutral safety switch idea, should be an easy fix, or it is not a big deal if you don't fix it. My "suckie" as you call it, won't start unless I pull in the clutch either, but mine was made that way. By the way, I love my "suckie" and I bet it is faster than your Warrior in Raptor clothes.:slap:
  2. That motor has changed very little since it was first put into the old Warriors, I am pretty sure that it will work just fine.
  3. Good to hear you got it fixed, sorry I didn't catch that sooner, I would have had plenty of suggestions. I hope I can be of some help in the future.
  4. If you go up a tooth on the front sprocket, I would go down 2" on the rear tire size or you will notice a significant drop in acceleration and you will need to work the clutch alot more at low speeds.
  5. Georgia isn't that far, I'll be there in about 4 1/2 hours in my new car, I just need a trailer with a really big spoiler.
  6. I take it you got the problem fixed????
  7. Clymer makes a decent manual, that is the only one I have ever used, so it is the only one I can speak about.
  8. I would ask someone from the service dept. at your local Suzuki dealer.
  9. Good to hear that you are up and running again, I'm sorry to hear that you had to pay that much for a fancy fuel valve.
  10. Here is one of the trucks sitting around my yard. It is a 1970 Peterbuilt 359 extended hood. She is in need of some serious TLC, but it runs like a raped-ape. We are hopefully going down to Oregon sometime this month to pick up another one that will be donating a cab and some of the parts we need to fix the hood. Some day she will be pulling the toy hauler that I wish I had.
  11. I understand completely, even though my LTR is newer, wider and easier to ride; I am still more comfortable hauling as* through corners on the R, the as* end squats nice and low and even with the little 18" tires and alot more power, the it is easier to keep the as* end behind me. Too much throttle on the LTR, and the rear end comes right around front. I think the LTR could benefit from another inch or two in the swingarm. Anyway to stay on topic, Powermadd, if you pick up that KTM, I will trade you for my LTR, it is nice and wide just the way you like.
  12. I understand why you would feel uncomfortable on anything but the TRX. Every other sport quad on the market feels like you are sitting high and leaning over to the handle bars. My LTR and my TRX feel completely different, but it didn't take me long to adjust. The LTR is quite comfortable to me now, I just had to get used to it. The only quads that I don't like the feel of anymore are the Raptor 660 and 700, they are just too tall.
  13. Why a 1988???
  14. I sat on a 525XC today and I didn't think it was bad at all. There are alot of things that are different between the MX and XC machines. Suspension, width, tire size, gearing, etc... The XC is designed for trail use and has reverse, while the MX machine is setup for the track and has no reverse. I ride a machine that was designed for the track, and while putting the larger tires on helps alot, there are plenty of other things that I wish were different. Don't get me wrong, I love my LTR, but I have only had it for a year, and the clutch is almost gone. That clutch was not made to be feathered alot, and when you are trying to squeeze a 49" wide quad through a 49 1/2" trail, you end up riding the clutch alot.
  15. Maybe you should apply for a photography job at Dirtwheels.
  16. I get it now. I thought you were talking about yet another trike, but you just picked up the one you were talking about in the beginning.:goofy:
  17. Great pics. You are right that place is beautiful, that landscape is incredible. It looks alot like Zion National Park, also in Utah. The wife and I stopped there on the way to Vegas a few years ago. Did you go into any of those caves?
  18. There isn't really too much that you can do about the heat coming from the engine. It is air cooled, letting the heat radiate away from the motor is the only thing that keeps the motor from over heating. An oil cooler is always a good idea for an air-cooled motor, it will increase the life expectancy of your motor and help protect against over heating. I don't know how much it will reduce the heat coming off of the motor, but it could help. Perma-Cool ATV Oil Coolers - summitracing.com
  19. That is very strange, NGK is the plug of choice in most if not all Japanese engines. This might sound stupid, but are you sure you had it gapped properly? Maybe the NGK's have a problem with cold weather or something.
  20. A set of cams and/or some port work is a good place to start. Maybe a new piston and a fresh bore too. Check the wear limits on everything. P.S. I changed the title of this thread.
  21. Me reaching for a beer Me at some swanky artsy bar in Vegas Me getting ready to smack someone for being a dumbass
  22. That is excellent man, I wish you and those kids the best of luck. I think that ATV riding is a terriffic way to get kids interested in something besides what is getting them in trouble. A good friend of mine just kicked a bad drinking habit. He turned to riding instead, and now he is doing much better. You can't get him off his Blaster for nothin', but he hasn't had a drink in about 8 months since he got it.
  23. Yeah, I never knew that there were petcocks that were that complicated. Some motors use a fuel pump that is driven by a crankcase vacuum signal. I fixed a PWC for a guy that had a setup like that, the problem turned out to be the signal line that drives the pump. He just had a regular rubber fuel hose on it, when it got warm, the line would get soft and then the pump wouldn't work.
  24. The only motors that would be a really easy swap would be the 250 quadsport that succeeded the 230, or one of the 230 quadrunners, both motors are essentially the same as the 230s motor except the 250 has a slighly larger displacement and the 230 quadrunner motor has an auto clutch and electric start with a pull start backup. Ebay is always a good place to find cheap parts. Service Honda has good prices on OEM parts. Also, I ran across this site a while back, they specialize in 230 Quadsport parts. 25. KTM does make a great product, they always have. However, no one is perfect. Your oil leak is most likely just a bad gasket, but you could very well have a crack in the case from a rock or something. Clean it up really well and give the motor a good once over. Unfortunately, you will most likely need to split the cases either way and fix the problem. On the plus side, you could use this as an opportunity to do some mods while things are apart.
