  1. Good work swampcat07, makes alot of sense ...
  2. i think if the bike is back firing, there is too much air mixing with the gas. i could be wrong, but i thought that is the problem. check the rubber manifold from the carb going to the block for leaks and cracks. you can spray some quick start while the bike is running at that location and if the bike changes rpm, that's the problem ... anyone else on here have an opinion? please share ...

  5. how's the timing? is the coil good? maybe it's more electrical than fuel ... cdi, stator, coil, plug ???
  6. agree, hard to replace factory specs with others that will give you this; but not that ... go OEM
  7. not sure with suzuki, yamaha has inspection covers front and rear, intake and exhaust respectively ... 3 bolts each on mine ...
  8. yes my first. waited 50 years to tarnish this ole body up. already know what i'm getting next ... i feel addicted now ...
  9. try bleeding the front brakes. get someone to help you when you do it, it makes it simple. like bleeding the brakes in your car/truck ...
  10. my first guess would be bad needle and seat, but swampcat07 may know of something else about the cat. he'll be on here today i'm sure and never ignores an arctic cat issue ...
  11. hey, sounds like a good winter project !! there is a manual for this bike in the yamaha section, yamaha atv manuals, post #3. when you make a reply, click the 'go advanced' button and them click on the paperclip. if you go to 'pictures' a drop down menu comes up and you can upload there too ...
  12. if you have the plug out of the cylinder but still connected to the coil and boot, do you get spark there?
  13. i would try to get a new key and cylinder and replace the toggle. sounds like something is shorting out however you got it rigged up. or you could get a voltage tester and see where the dead spot is and try and go from there. usually no damage happens if the fuse blows ...
  14. i had that exact xr back in 2001 to 2006. it worked awesome. it pulled the front wheel in damn near every gear like you said too. the only problem i had with it were plugs. i went to a crackshot retired honda mechanic and he sold me 6 or so plugs that didn't have the resistors. they made the complete difference of no problem starting, but i'm sure the neighbors couldn't watch t.v. to good
  15. there should be some short of adjustment GREENIE. if not, hopefully it is just the clutch and a fairly easy fix ...
  16. there should be an inspection cover to avoid pulling the head. you can measure your clearences there too. good to hear you have good spark too !!
  17. Hey back and welcome to QC !! i just had stop signs in my town, and the side walks got rolled up at night
  18. i removed the throttle cable on mine, but never the other cable. i can't remember why ... but i had enough room to pull it out of the frame and work on it ...
  19. i'm not sure on yours. mine had the manual pull stick. you can alaways try it, just be careful of springs and such ,,,
  20. yah just put on your best race face

  24. sounds like plugged up carb. needs a good cleaning and blast of compressed air. not sure if that carb has a fuel screw, just air i think, once in all the way, about 2 1/2 to 2 3/4 turns counter clockwise is about right .... and if you turn the carb upside down with the float bowl off, the float should be about half an inch or better from the housing to the bottom of float (or top when upside down).
