    i would take the bowl off the carb and make sure you are getting fuel consistently, is it stalling maybe because fuel is running out? take a reading from the pick-up coil too. and make sure you have good spark at the plug ... could be bad coil or stator given the age of bike ...

    could it be that the carb needs a cleaning or rebuild kit? valves had the right lash to spec?

    i dont think its alot, i would be more concerned about the amount of hours. with alot of kms, you can mostly look for visible wear and tear, probably the hours are about 350? 700 hours usually means its time for a top end rebuild ... my grizz was close to that and 2 years older, and it worked perfect ...

    i recently bought a Garmin 2555. easy to use but hard to see in the sun for sure ....

    i cleaned the carb on a 91 big bear 12 or more times before i got it right LOL ... i was told to adjust the valves every 2 years, i believe that also ... just a suggestion ...

    check your valve clearances ... that would make it hard to start and push fuel back thru the carb ...

    it could, do you have a buddy with the same bike you could switch out units? be a shame to spend big bucks on a cdi if thats not the problem though ...

    check the kill switch or dirty ? does the neutral light come on from the safety switch ? pulse generator ? did you check the stator resistance ?
