  1. I agree, that would be a bad idea, for one, it would be obnoxiously loud, it would probably hurt your ears to ride it.
  2. Have you already bought one of these? If not, I am guessing it would be best to save your money and buy something from a manufacturer that has a proven reliable reputation. I don't know anyone who owns one of those, but I do know a few people who have bought other off-brand atv's, and they have had nothing but problems with them.
  3. 55psi is a problem, you need to take the motor apart and see what is going on in there. Could be the piston/rings leaking, could also be scratches or gouges in the cylinder, or you could have problems with the valves sealing.
  4. I trust you will post up some pics when you get them put on.
  5. Never heard of them, I would look to the manufacturer to find parts.
  6. Let us know how it goes.
  7. That would be your opinion. There are plenty who would disagree.
  8. The wheels are the only thing that will have to come off, just like changing a car tire like you said, only smaller.
  9. I think that is just as likely, but we would need the poster to come back and tell us weather the smoking is continuous, or if it quits after running for a while. I guess we can find out if he comes back. Fireman??
  10. Five Police officers have been assasinated in the state of Washington in a month, not killed in the line of duty in a shootout or something, but blatantly assasinated. On halloween, a Seattle P.D. training officer was shot dead in a patrol car. Just last sunday, another man shot four Lakewood officers were shot dead in a coffee shop. Things were absolutely nuts around here for days after each shooting, as cop swarmed in large groups to investigate any tips that they got. There were police everywere I went. Times are tough and people are going nuts, I hope this does not catch on and become a regular thing. 11. Welcome, I am not from N.C., but I will chat with you about all things ATV.
  12. Synthetic oil won't damage your engine, nor will it solve your problems. It will provide superior protection though.
  13. I changed the title a bit, but we would still like to add the model year like Ajmboy said. If you tell us a bit about what is wrong with the machine, what works and what doesn't, then we might be able to help.
  14. Good luck, and do please keep us posted.
  15. You are definately going to want to figure out how to get that air cleaner off. Replace the screws if you have to, but it will have to be cleaned sometime. You also might want to try taking the carb apart and cleaning it, it sounds like you have other problems too, but a carb cleaning may help out, especially if the machine has ever sat without being run for an exteded period.
  16. I first found this image which led me to believe that was your machine. But when I tried to look up that machine on a Yamaha parts fiche, it does not exhist. However the 85 Badger 80 looks just like that. If you look up a Champ 100 on a parts fiche, the front fender is different than yours. It looks like a Badger 80, but the # on your motor indicates a 98cc engine. Maybe you have a Badger with a Champ 100 motor in it, or the Moto 4 100 does exhist, but is rare and obsolete. 1985 Yamaha Moto 4 100cc for sale in Butler, Pennsylvania - CycleTrader.com
  17. I checked a Honda parts fiche and it looks like the camshaft part# was the same in all years. So I would just get the newest one you can find if you buy a used one. If you buy a new one, the year won't matter because they are all the same.
  18. A compression test is definately a good idea. If you don't have proper compression it could mean that the recent cylinder work was not done properly, or it could mean that the valves aren't sealing properly. That could be either valve guides or the valves aren't seating properly in the head either because there is not enough valve clearance and the valves aren't closing all the way, or the seating surfaces aren't sealing when the valves close. The smoking kind of points to oil leaking into the cylinder which would be either the piston/rings or the valve guides.
  19. When you hot wired the switch did you check for voltage at the hub acuator to make sure that the current was getting to the hubs. If the current is getting there and they aren't working, the problem could be the magnetic acuators are faulty or not properly grounded.
  20. That is a Yamaha Moto 4 100, probably 1985 or so. Good luck finding parts for that thing. Some of the stuff off the '87 moto 4 champ 100 might fit.
  21. That is as good of an idea is any IMO. Although if there is an opening in the circuit after the switch, then you may just need to find the short or break in the wire and fix it. I would start by tracing power from the battery down the circuit until you find where the power is lost. It could be the switch itself. If you can't find any problems anywhere, then I would just try applying power directly to the mechanism. If it still doesn't work, then it stands to reasont that the actuator itself is the problem.
  22. Check your air filter, check the carb for a possible stuck float. If you don't find anything wrong there, check your timing chain, ignition timing and valve lash.
  23. Sounds like you blew a head gasket.
  24. I probably should have kept this to myself, but since someone actually caught a picture of me on Halloween, I thought I should share it with y'all. It's not everyday that you see a 220lb baby.
  25. I got it pretty quick the first time, but I couldn't do it again to save my life.
